Tornadoes are being reported now in the Tampa Bay area.....this thread will be used to track/monitor them.

Tornadoes are popping inland Manatee County, DeSoto and Hardee Counties all over the place. Darn WX Radio Alarm is going nuts.

Yep. Four or five warnings in the last 90 min or so. Most are East of I-75, but even here in Western Manatee I'm feeling a little twitchy.

They almost always are. While they aren't the classic monster twisters of the Midwest, they can still be quite destructive - and in a weaker storm like Alberto, they can produce much of the damage.

This is such good advice! If your home is hit by a tornado, even a small one, it won't matter if a TS or a Cat3 generated it! Please, everyone in the effected areas, stay in a safe place until the treat has passed!!!

Yes, please be safe! Last year south of Belzoni, MS a tornado in a squall from Rita killed 2 people and in '04 a tornado in NC killed 3 people in the remnants of Bonnie!
