Thanks for that AVN loop Calamity. Boy, you can really see the decrease in the severity of the storms - it went from some grays there back to little red in the center of all that. Hopefully that's a sign that he's hit his peak, but as always, it's just a wait, watch, and see game with these storms.

EDIT TO ADD (so as to not add a new post for this): *Hugs* to ya Calamity :) Like I said, I wasn't trying to single you out, it just happened to be the post I quoted  Nothin' but love to my fellow S2Kers :sun: (especially the SE FL ones ;) )

Canelaw99 wrote:This is the bazillionth post I've seen (not trying to single you out CapeVerde :) ) about "quality over quantity", "give scientific reasons", etc. I've been a member here for a couple of years now, and I used to like it when we AMATEUR people could give opinions on storms without necessarily a reason. It's fun to try to forecast these things, but I don't necessarily have "scientific" reasons for every little thought about a storm. Sometimes you just get feelings or you think a certain way. Who cares? This particular forum is all about talking about the tropics. It is NOT the professional forum where the pros can post their forecasts and back it up with reasons. I, for one, amd getting very tired of all these posts and it's making me almost scared to post any thought on any storm now. I love ya all, but y'all need to remember what this forum is for, IMO. :)

OK, Canelaw99. Sorry...

The cloud tops have warmed a lot since this morning.

And here's a RGB visible loop since sunrise today: Click here

Good links...the center still looks pretty exposed.

When should Pasco County start seeing TS winds? We are 5 miles from the coast.

What do ya think?

good call canelaw. many of us have been lurking here for a while, and based on several things, can make a decent guesstimation about what a storm will do. though it may lack scientific data, it doesnt necessarily make it incorrect. furthermore, many animals are great forecasters based on nothing scientific.

welcome to the guesstimation forum. enjoy your stay.

also if in not out of line, ill add that i have no problem with my scroll wheel skimming past 'i agree' posts. :):):):):):):):)

<3 you guys.

This ship reported at 18z or 2pm sustained winds at 55kts. The wind direction is from the NE, that would be NW Quad.

KGBE S 1800 27.40 -86.10 38 261 40 55.0 - 9.8 5.0 - - 29.57

Judging by the position and 29.57 (1001mb) pressure this is very close to the center.

I'll second that. They are fun to track but not so fun if they hit your neighborhood. (No electric, phone, Cable, etc)

Alberto reached 70mph 39 hours after Arlene did. let's see if that's his peak of if he can become a cane and beat out Arlene.

If he is not a hurricane at the next advisory, it will be hard to get there.
