I have to say that this system has been very tenasious fighting all the upper shear and dry air almost since the system was a disturbance in the Caribbean.Remember the multiple vortexes at that time and when it was a depression?

Another image. Check out the howling 25-30 kt winds just north of the exposed center. Also note that winds in the western half of the storm are blowing AWAY from the center.

I watched the NBC news and the weather people and other people who are reporting from Flordia say it's going to become a hurricane. They didn't say "might" so it means once again that they could be fooling people if it doesn't. I also heard forcasters on TV say that it's strengthening right now. Wow, getting Tropical Cyclone information from TV stinks!!
Not only do they say false information a few times, they make mistakes a round the clock!
This thing can become a hurricane still, just need to wait on it. But this thing is so much like Alrene it's not even funny.

The last RGB image - http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/flt/t1/rgb-l.jpg - shows clearly that the center has no active deep convection, and indeed can't have any to speak of since this morning. All that's left is dissapating outflow which will look like convection on enhanced IR. So at the moment, it's not tropical, just tropical leftovers. It could fire up tonight but it will be over much chillier water so I don't expect much. It's a big change from this morning, when there was a big CDO with obvious active deep convection.
So I agree with several other here that's its going extratropical, which of course is great new for Florida. They get their big rainstorm minus extensive damage.

I do not think my immediate area will see too much of the worst "Alberto" has to offer..as of now the local Jax TV Mets say 1 to 3 inches for Duval County, I live in the eastern part of it. Some small chance of Tornadoes overnight tonight into early afternoon tomorrow . That said; things can and often do change.......
