thanks Hurricane Hunter for remembering those of us in the islands who may get impacted first by any disturbance.

That wave coming off of Africa looks pretty sizeable; but perhaps a lot of them do around this time of year. In either case, all you islanders stay safe!

And since you're in the Vanguard of defense... keep us up on things!

Don't you get hit every single time a hurricane forms in the area and makes it's way through you? Wouldn't everything be damaged by now and before you can fix all of it it get's knocked down again? I have little knowledge about those islands.

Even though it likely will be no more than an Invest at that point, it is still rain and winds by the tropical wave or low...

no , we don't get hit by everything., but Cape verde systems do have to move through the islands.
it depends at what latitude they move through and what strength they are.

One or more of the islands will definitely get some weather from the systems.
This early in the season, as the waves move through, they have not usually strengthened into tropical storms yet.
Later in the hurricane season, in August and September, is when the Cape verde systems can strengthen significantly in the Central Atlantic and move through the islands as hurricanes.
Here is a good map to help orient you :

TROPICAL WAVE IS ALONG 56W S OF 14N. THIS WAVE REMAINS FAIRLY
WELL DEFINED WITH AN INVERTED V-PATTERN EMBEDDED WITHIN THE
ITCZ. THE WAVE APPEARS TO BE MOVING FAIRLY QUICKLY NEAR 20 KT.
THIS WAVE IS EXPECTED TO MOVE ACROSS THE LESSER ANTILLES INTO E
CARIBBEAN LATE TUESDAY BRINGING AN INCREASE IN SHOWERS AND
TSTMS. A MODERATE TO STRONG SURGE IN THE TRADE WINDS WILL FOLLOW
THIS SYSTEM ACROSS THE EASTERN CARIBBEAN.

8 PM Discussion.

Here it comes.Tommorow rain will increase in the Lesser Antilles and by tomorrow night thru Wednesday for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. But as I said at this thread interaction with a TUTT trough will inhibit development. If it survives into the western Caribbean, well that's another story.
