Alberto Tornado Warnings & Watches

#1 Postby conestogo_flood » Mon Jun 12, 2006 8:29 pm

I thought it would be a neat idea to have a tornado warning thread so it isn't too confusing. Maybe I was wrong.

IT'S NOT SHOWING UP ON THE NWS.
TORNADO WARNING

It's not showing up but right now a tornado warning is in effect until 945 pm EDT for northern Pinellas County.

At 924 pm EDT radar indicated a tornado located over Clearwatter moving north at 40 mph.

The tornado will be near: Dunedein at 925 pm EDT, Palm Harbor at 930 pm EDT, Tarpon Springs at 935 pm EDT.

The Miami NWS site won't load. Is it down?

Yeah, this is a great time for the Tampa Bay NWS site to go down. The load on those servers right now must be *crazy*. It's off and on at best at the moment. Thank goodness for old school NOAA WX radio, huh?

Personally, I'm hating the fact that tornadoes and waterspouts are popping so close to the coast right now.

How can I post a graphic of the radar image showing suspicious cells from my radar viewing software?

NWs has cinfirmed several suspicous areas. One was likely right in my neighborhood in those 50 mphs winds. More coming inland.

Wouldn't Melbourne NWS be taking over if Tampa Bay goes down?

Melbourne NWS appears to be down, too. So is the Miami NWS, along with Tampa-Ruskin NWS.

Yes, probably.

Also Crazy
OT I know, but Winnipeg WFO is Downsview WFO back-up. If you ever read it Crazy, I just thought you'd like to know.

Wow, so the closest ones would be Key West NWS, Mobile NWS, Tallahassee NWS and (far out) Atlanta-Peachtree City NWS and Charleston NWS.

After Katrina, who handled everything?

It looks like most of the Florida NWS office websites are down. Key West NWS is down, too... I just checked.

Just great.

Hmm, maybe we should over post this topic, it's going to get to confusing to get the warnings out if we have so many posts. Just a suggestion.
