Hey RS! Yes, Alberto is forecast to become a rather potent barocline system. Looks like it might pass just to your south, so Va Beach should see some high surf and a cool brist east wind.....MGC

when the local news came on they showed the official track and it actually brings the center thru my county tomorrow afternoon as a 35knt extratropical low so we should get a bit of rain from this as well.We have already had over 5 inches this month already!

Hmmmm. I don't think I would use the word "slammed" here in the title - its losing alot of punch as it moves to northern lattitudes.

I heard that because of the stationary front over NC and VA that there could be serious flooding..

Will do, rainstorm. I expressed earlier concerns about the copious amounts of water this thing could wind up leaving behind as it tracked to the NE... New England could be in for a mess too.

It looks like it is holding together enough to generate lots of storms and rain.

Well be safe - I think Florida made out okay, hope it weakens and you just get lots of rain! :D

well they are saying gust to 40 here for tomorrow afternoon.Although this is really not a big deal we have received alot of rain this weekend so any additional rain or stronger gusts in any thunderstorms may bring down a few weaker trees but all in all not to bad. Some places down by wilmington have recieved a more rain form this weekend than florida did from alberto!

heres a doplar rainfall radar from wilmington!
http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid= ... 11&loop=no

and one from morehead city! the one from morehead was reset sunday so it doesn't show all the rain from saturday

It's moisture has def increased but I highly doubt that the winds are getting any stronger at all. This was anything but a wind event around here. I believe it may be due to the interaction with that front. Def subtropical characteristics involved. Looks like a winter type storm with the commet shape to it.

Danny/Gaston

The local met on WVEC mentioned on a news break a few minutes ago that Alberto may actually strengthen as it moves Northeast toward us (VA/NC). This is actually not uncommon, as Danny (97 version) was inland for six days and as it approached the coast it blew back up it a tropical storm, and spawned tornadoes in downtown Norfolk. Gaston pulled a near repeat two years ago, rejuvenating back to a tropical storm while over land (near Yorktown, per the NHC report) and wrecking havoc in Richmond with deadly flooding, and spawning several tornadoes.

NWS Wakefield is predicting 2-4 inches of rain here...a significant amount but hardly catastrophic. There will be some flooding in areas of poor drainage and low lying areas. I wouldnt be surprised though to see some locally heavier amounts up to 6 inches.
