Dee Bee wrote::uarrow: Alicia, I loved it, too. Have you read The Poisonwood Bible by Kingsolver? It's fairly long, but excellent.

I've just finished Anita Shreve's latest (somewhat predictable; I enjoyed the "story-within-the-story" more than the main plot) and have started On Beauty by Zadie Smith .

Thanks for reviving this thread! :)

i followed your advice and read it this last week, well, i have about 10 pages left. very good book and just solidified my opinion about certain things. thanks for the recommendation!

Oh my Gosh!!!! I just finished the most hilarious book I have read in a long long time. If you have never read any Janet Evanovich you need to get the first book, One for the Money and start there! I just finished Twelve Sharp it just came out, only took me 2 days, probably would have been just one but I wanted it to last. I have never laughed so hard in my life at a book. I had to read some passages to my husband. If anybody has read any of this and knows the Stephanie Plum series, do ya'll have a "Ranger" around???? I sure would love to find him!

Thanks, Mary -- I'm going to check out that author :uarrow: right now.

I just received the latest Anne Tyler book Digging to America through
Zooba today. I'll take it to AZ this Thursday when I go for an extended weekend to see my in-laws.

I must be on a Barbara Kingsolver binge. After reading The Prodigal Summer, and The Poisonwood Bible, I've now also read Animal Dreams (AWESOME, it made me miss AZ so much more...), Pigs in Heaven, and now another one: The Bean Trees.

Also reading Labrynth. Just finished Anthony Bourdain's "The Nasty Bits", and an intriguing little novel called "The Brief History of the Dead".

I just finished my mother's copy of Can't Wait to Get to Heaven by Fannie Flagg. Just a flat-out good story. If you aren't familiar with Ms. Flagg's books, she also wrote Fried Green Tomatoes Served Hot at the Whistle Stop Cafe - the subject of the movie made a few years ago with Jessica Tandy.

Just got Stephen King's new book, Lisey's Story. Saving it for this weekend's mini-vacation trip. Can't wait to dig in. :D
