Your Allen picture is from when he was a Cat 3 I think. Your Iris picture is a Cat 2, not Cat 4 Hurricane Iris from 2001.

The Hurricane David picture is also a Cat 2 or something. David was a Cat 5 along the Haitian coast.

Lots of nice pictures though.

I have to agree, Floyd is one of the best looking CAT4 hurricanes.

Actually Hurricane Floyd at one time had sustained winds of 160 mph and gusts nearing 200 mph...

I wonder if you can superimpose the United States over Typhoon Tip.

Actually, according to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Floyd peaked at 155 mph and was, therefore, a category four hurricane.

Well, we should focus on the official data instead of claiming that Floyd was 160 mph without proof.

Thanks for adding the Dennis and Emily pics. Haven't seen many of those. Dennis has a pin-hole eye, cool. Also, Dennis was large with his bands. Emily just looks weird because of the eye being at the bottom of the hurricane. Does anyone have some pics of Dennis when he was near Cuba or about to make landfall at Cuba?

Just to clarify, the second picture of Emily is Hurricane Emily from 1993 off North Carolina's Outer Banks, NOT 2005's Caribbean Hurricane Emily. CHRISTY, I think you may need to fix that. Still, all excellent images. Thanks for sharing.

ya, that would be pretty crazy to see a hurricane hit the outer banks of NC and loop around out to the central atlantic and hit the yucatan and just south of brownsville

P.S. I still cant believe they didnt retire emily's name

I just saw that a few minutes ago. I knew it was a different Emily because of the size and look of the hurricane.

I agree, huge surprise. It's been used too many times now because were already mixing her up with other storms!! She did enough to be retired and they didn't for what? the 2nd or 3rd time now? :hmm:
