Whenever you see "stock footage" spliced in to show world events or "big" scenes. Another is when it's a Sci-Fi movie, way into the future, but everyone is wearing jeans and carrying firearms as we have now in this time. Ditto for the sets that are in some "Apocalyptic desert" or what is obviously the back corridors of a mall or factory. Also weak is when the "aliens" are just humans in road-warrior leather and spikes, maybe with striped faces or something.
