Cecilia Sinclair - N. Central Montgomery county

Frank B. - Downtown Houston

Dr. Neil Frank - Sealy

NWS - Eastern Montgomery county

It is a very broad low.

After looking at 4 different radars, I place the "center" of the low over N. Central Harris county. And unfortunately it appears to be filling in as it moves more to the West.

When you say filling do you mean weakening or are you talking about the rain area expanding ?

The rain is backbuilding towards the SW now and has started in my area. The radar loop below shows it pretty well. I live just west of the thecircle with the crosshairs.

I'm no longer sure where the center of the low is.

It was over Houston last night moving at only a couple miles per hour. I think it somehow reformed 40 miles or so west of the city overnight, but it is so disorganized that I can't be sure.

There is still plenty of rain in the area so it's not time to relax, but time will tell whether the worst is over.

I agree. I have no idea where the low is. There seems to be different centers at different levels. Either it reasserts itself in the next six hours or I think the major flood threat is over. Just will have to wait and see if it pops back up somewhere.

It does appear to me what ever the case may be with the low that the precip area continues to slide to the southwest. I am interested to see how this plays out this afternoon.

It looks as if it is about to rev up again. It may be just my eyes but it looks to be back building just about any place you look. We are forecasted here today for 10 inches so we shall see what happens. I heard on the tv a minute ago that near Victoria and Matagorda they have had 4-5 inches in an hours time fall

This is actually the second one of these "tropical" type systems this year. Remember one at the end of May near Corpus that dropped nearly 20 inches of rain near Ricardo?

Oh great!

That heavy band moving across the east end of the island is not going to let up anytime soon. Guess I'm gonna be wearing shorts and sandals to work so I can wade in and change when I get there. This'll be fun!

Living up to my screenname today, that's for sure! :D

The rain is already building, but the worst of it is all headed northerly instead of in a circular pattern.

I guess I'd concur that at least one secondary low has formed somewhere, perhaps back in Liberty County, that accounts for this.

Even another two inches of rain today in some places is going to make news because the ground simply can't handle it. I'm still high and dry (probably got less than 1 inch yesterday in all), but those photos of flooded vehicles and homes in the area were quite real.

Interesting on Infrared their has been two main areas of convection. One down towards Victoria, and the other now south and west of Bryan. The other strong band in the Houston Galveston area are not very cold topped although producing very heavy rain. In looking at satellite loops the whole thing is drifting southwest over all. with some drying pressing in from the northeast.

I'm not sure about SW. West, perhaps. It all seems to be redeveloping and strengthening this morning and we might have a much better idea in the next couple of hours.
