Post Counts a thing of the past at storm2k
Just a Pre Warning that we will be removing post counts here at storm2k. By that I mean the board will no longer display how many posts each member has. This is being done for a few different reasons. I know this is going to upset many, but everyone needs to remember "quality over quantity" anyway.
This will be taking effect later this afternoon.. Stay Tuned!!

Well sky,I really dont care much about how many posts I have even if I am #1 now. It's quality vs quantity what matters.

I guess this means the end of the post milestones threads in the greetings and milestones forum, doesn't it?
Personally, I like the removal of the post count numbers. It makes me feel more relaxed and less stressed to keep up; also, it makes me feel I can take my time and post my honest, detailed, quality thoughts when I want to chime in every now and then, as well as to congratulate others. It will also help others feel less stressed, and it will help them to post more quality posts and post their reasons why they think a certain way on what a system will do, tropical activity, synoptics, RECON, and all related and intertwined things. Kudos for making this excellent decision, Chad, and the others!

I well see the rationale for this decision. Sounds good to me.

Yes that can get annoying. Quality is most important. Although if you see Staff doing that it's usually to drop a line or two so you know we are watching.skysummit wrote:Hey...hopefully it'll lower the number of reply posts in Recon threads and such. I've been seeing many replies with only 1 or 2 words in those threads....you know, an easy way to get those post numbers up! The more I think about it, the more I support this.

Not at all Janice. All this will do is remove the display of the number of posts under your rank badge. Hopefully it will end the drive to post just for the sake of the numbers.

That is good. It will give more quality responses rather than just a smiley or short note.
I agree but with one important question for those who will be following: Will they retain the "Category" badges, or will that be withdrawn as well?

Seriously, everyone can afford to donate, even $10 would help a lot. I'd spend that much in one trip to the movies.
I agree with you there bvgal; and hope I can do that soon enough... without the badge at first simply because I wanted to feel I'd posted my way through the Cats. I know that frequently means some will just post - away; but I feel I've shown that when I post in the serious threads... they're fairly cogent.

Actually, if I have the time, I'll be more likely to play them now. I would have gladly scratched off some of my post count if I could. It really racked up during about a 6 month period a few years ago when I played the games a lot and I didn't think about it then, but I would have rathered those meaningless posts didn't show up in the post count. Since they can go up SO FAST while playing games for just 10 minutes or so, it makes it look like I post more than I really do, although technically those were posts. Oh, y'all know what I mean!
Anyhow, I don't even pay attention to mine or anyone else's anyway...I think it's absurd to try and raise your post count. I don't even know what the point is. One day in chat, I tried to guess what mine was, and I was only off by a few thousand. lol
I was shocked to find out today that cycloneye had nearly 49,000 posts because I never pay attention to that stuff. I don't know how on earth he has that many though...I think his submit key got stuck. hehe
I think this is a great decision by our staff and I hope that everyone else agrees. If not, I hope you will in time.

Kelly, you see that number up there but I am quality all the way vs quantity as you know at mainly Talking Tropics (Going up bigtime during hurricane season) .But I also post in every forum colaborating to the best board of the net and that amounts to more numbers
