UPDATE - I'm Back!

#1 Postby TexasStooge » Fri Jun 23, 2006 6:38 am

Today, I'm gonna be volunteering at a Boy Scout's Summer Camp in South Dallas most of the day today. I will be back online this evening while doing laundry.

I can tell you this: The rain will start falling by the time the opening ceremony starts this morning.

It has been a fun day! The kids told me all the good stuff they did the past 4 days they were at camp. The rain we were supposed to get this morning fell apart and dissipated. We only got sudden gusts of winds, but that was it. After Den activities and the opening ceremonies, me and my assistant leader's off to take our boy scout troop to the first activity. We were learning safety procedures and how to carry a victim, we got to see creatures from all over the world, such as snakes, pythons, tarantulas, etc. Speaking of which, the troop found a live scorpion in a fire pit near the BB Gun Range, luckily we stopped them from picking it up, otherwise, we would've had a drastic situation on our hands. During lunch, I tried unsuccessfully to solar reheat my taquitos from this morning  , then I said "Aah, to heck with it, I'm gonna eat them semi-cold" considering the skies were mostly cloudy. A few minutes later, we were saved by a couple of boxes of pizza! :woo: Then we went to the WOW Corral to get the leaders (including me) awarded for services to the troops that are participating in the summer camp, then archery, swimming, the trading post (snack shack), then got to see some old friends I haven't seen in a while during the closing ceremonies, afterwards, we went to Braums for Ice Cream and went home.

Of course, we couldn't go another day without some childish behavior, like "There's a wasp on your head! Joking!", but other than that, it was all in a day's worth. :D If I wanted to do this again next summer, I would.
