Well, the Earth has been warming the past hundred years. This fact is well established by just looking at nature. Expanding deserts, retreating glaciers ect. Earth's climate has been in constant flux since the beginning. Yes, using the Viking example is quite valid. I wondered why they called Greenland what they did since all the pictures of it are ice covered. Logic would dictate that the Earth was much warmer at the time and the warming was not caused by CO2 emissions. Too bad the thermometer was not invented back then. I read several articles that claim the ice core data is flawed and does not prove the actual climatic record. GW is all political IMO.......MGC

Local does not equal global. Obviously, the regional climate of Greenland was warmer during the period the Vikings settled there. This does not demonstrate (nor is there any evidence demonstrating) that the entire globe was warmer at that time.

Greenland was about the same temp then it is now - but not warming rapidly. They grow sheep there extensively now, while the Vikings had a hard time with anything other than goats. The name was primarily a marketing ploy, although the settled areas were two regions which were, and are, green and nice in the summer due to the Gulf Stream.
