Question

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Question

#1 Postby NBCintern » Wed Jun 28, 2006 1:23 pm

I figured I'd ask this before I get too busy with work and internship. I was wondering why the tropical season in Florida has been slow. I have seen a few TS here and there but nothing like the past. It almost feels like califorina weather...Anyways, I thought I'd ask why the slow start, if it is one..

Doesn't seem slow to me. Most Junes in the past we've had nothing.

It's only June, so are you talking about the past few seasons or something? If so, they were quite busy in Florida, so I really don't know what you're talking about.

Just curious...what is your internship for?

Normally, there are a lot of TS every afternoon, but this year not quite as much. Rain is rain, but the TS's have been absent.

Journalism.. I am interning for NBC in burbank, which is close to the school I am in. Jay Leno has some cool cars and bikes.. Must be nice...

If there was a TS every day then on average every year we'd have 40+ TS's

Hey it's the rainy season. Get ready because 93L is supposed to increase the squalls and wind early next week across South Florida. Also the easterlies are in the process of picking up so we should see some good diurnal showers at night:

Ohhh, that explains it. I thought you had lost your mind. :P

I think nearly everyone on here says TS for Tropical Storm, so we assumed that's what you meant, and thus, it didn't make much sense.

Seems like this question was asked right about the time Alberto formed, not sure by who but anyways, we have had our normal summer time afternoon showers here every since Alberto came and left. It was a late start to the rainy season. Yesterday it got crazy here late afternoon. I guess it all depends on where you live in the state. The Sea breezes have picked up latley and they generally move off the east and west coast and collide somewhere in the middle of the state and bring some pretty nasty weather almost daily, at least here in Orlando.

We are about to get nailed again here shortly.
