Holy Moly I'm a Cat. 5!

#1 Postby Swimdude » Tue Jun 27, 2006 10:56 pm

Ok. I know it's probably not up for debate. But what are the opinions out there about the new category designation for S2K users? I think it's kind of silly... I was wanting to achieve Cat 5 by myself... Not by being bumped up there! :(

Here's the new "schedule" below...

Tropical Wave 1
Tropical Low 10
Tropical Depression 50
Tropical Storm 100
Category 1 250
Category 2 500
Category 3 800
Category 4 900
Category 5 1000

^ Fellow Houstonian! COMPLETELY off topic, but that's the title of this whole entire forum anyway! I was actually awake this morning at 5:15 - I went and viewed the sunrise from a nice location. It was gorgeous, but there were plenty of mosquitoes - even though it was about 67 degrees outside.

I was quite shocked earlier today to find I was a tropical depression. Last I checked, I was a wave, and I don't think it was that long ago.

What was the old "schedule"? How new is this one? Maybe that explains it. I never even noticed when I was in the "tropical low" stage, and now I am wondering if I was ever there.

EDIT: A tropical storm...hmm...I swear I was a tropical low before.

It seems I have had some 'rapid intensification' too. From a tropical wave into a a tropical storm in just a few hours. Curious...

And me. I have been Cat 1 for a while. Well I guess I am a Cat 5 too. I didn't even look at that when I came over to read post in the Tropic forum. See how much I pay attention to that. :D

I was a Cat 1 or Cat 2 last I knew, now I just saw that I jumped up to Cat 5!! Definately must have hit some warmer waters and found a non-sheared environment for me to strengthen that much in such a short amount of time.

Nope, don't believe it is! ;)

Although I think several people did the same thing, it was just an outbreak by the sounds of it. :D
