Florida summer pattern afternoon boomers (3 imgs)

#1 Postby Zackiedawg » Wed Jun 28, 2006 11:14 pm

Been away for a bit...busy finishing all home repair and redecoration as the hurricane season closed in. Haven't stopped by since a nice March storm update.

Now we are in the regular Florida late afternoon thunderstorm pattern...every day for the past week has had afternoon thunderstorms popping up in the afternoon in the Everglades and floating across the populated areas and out to sea. No end in sight either.

Thought some might like a few pics from in between the raindrops of our usual summer storms:

This Sunday, some squalls and localized bands of rain playing just off the beach:

Boaters generally just steered around them:

Looking west from Boca Raton towards the Everglades:

I will be trying to capture some of the better thunderheads and cells that form this weekend, as the rainy pattern looks to be continuing...unfortunately I'm stuck at work all during the week and sometimes miss the best storms with my camera.

Nice pictures. Reminds me of what the summer afternoons used to look like around here (minus the pretty water and beach  ). Now we can't buy a drop, hopefully that changes next week.

Thanks all. I love taking pictures of storms, but don't always get the opportunity when stuck at work. But I will try to look for the more interesting storms, big supercell formations, front lines, or anything else that comes through when the camera is in my hand, and post them as they come.
