I think that advisory might have been issued before the dome collapsed.

Yes, that's my question, too. I have friends who are en route to St. John in the Virgin Islands to get married this weekend. I'm wondering if/how this will affect them. Any of y'all have any ideas? Please share! Thanks!

Above is graphic but it's not available. But I can tell you that the winds are from the EastSouthEast which means that ash plumes will move towards the Virgin Islands.

Thanks, Luis. I really appreciate it. I'll keep checking that graphic. I hope it doesn't mess up their wedding-- or cause any problems for y'all on the islands. They have been so excited about getting married on the beach there.

It won't stop the wedding..it will just make the air hazy and a bit gritty. Hopefully no one in the wedding party will have any breathing issues, but if they do, they will know what to do. Basically, at our end, it is like smog must be in a city atmosphere, just a haze - um, unless it really lets go, then, it is like it is snowing. Hey, it will be memorable, no matter what, St. John is beautiful!

Sorry msbee, I didn't read all of this before I saw the report on stormcarib...should have put that in here...shouldn't have started a new topic...my bad

:D For those of you traveling to the islands, and for baygirl_1, we have a fairly nice day going on so far. As caribepr explained (so well!), it's hazy. The sun is trying to peek through, the breezes are light easterly, and radar shows most of the scattered showers are now to our west. When we have the haze, we have very few showers, which is a good thing. Hopefully it won't rain on the beach wedding!
