2005 vs 2006

#1 Postby dwg71 » Mon Jul 03, 2006 11:10 am

As of tomorrow it stands -

2005 - 4 named storms
2006 - 1 named storm

Not an opinion on the activity levels of the season, just an observation. I for one hope we have an unusually quiet season.

You're comparing this to the most active season ever recorded. 2004 had 0 named storms at this time.

A tropical depression is not a named storm.

He was just comparing this year to last thus far... no reason to jump down his throat. We're all here to post, learn, discuss and have a good time.

I wouldn't say that because Mr.Shear helps produce tornadoes and tornado outbreaks over land. That kills people and ruins homes and buildings. You need a good amount of shear for these things.

I was thinking purely in a tropical sense... because as pointed out this is a tropical forum.... and I hope that we DO have a quiet season, and any storms that develop do NOT Kill people and cause severe pain and suffering... and catastrophic devastation.... because that IS WHAT THEY DO when they impact an area.... especially the majors....

the shear I was referring to was in the tropics and over water, inhibiting tropical development.... not on land...

As long as we have upper level lows forming IE the one in the Bahamas we'll be fine in the short term.
