Beautiful here as well. Watched cloud funnels from Dinghy Dock during lunch, grow from tiny to fair sized but then disappearing again. Saw a third while standing on the sidewalk talking to someone a little while ago. Strange cloud line heading straight to you Luis!! But really a pretty day, haze~lite!

IS A WELL-ORGANIZED WAVE THAT HAS A DISTINCTIVE V-SHAPE ON

BEST CHANCE OF RAIN SHOULD BE S OF 15N. TUE LOOKS TO BE THE DAY
WITH THE HIGHEST CHANCE OF RAIN IN PUERTO RICO. A GALE MAY
OCCUR NEAR/BEHIND THE WAVE AS IT MOVES INTO THE CENTRAL
CARIBBEAN FOR WED. SCATTERED WEAK/MODERATE CONVECTION IS FROM

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN JUAN PR
458 AM AST MON JUL 3 2006
.DISCUSSION...A LOW LEVEL REFLECTION OF TUTT AND ASSOCIATED
MOISTURE CONTINUED TO MOVE WEST ACROSS THE LOCAL AREA...PRODUCING
PASSING SHOWERS ACROSS THE LOCAL WATERS WITH FEW AFFECTING THE
EASTERN PORTIONS OF PUERTO RICO. AT THIS MOMENT THESE SHOWERS HAVE
NOT PRODUCE ANY SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL ACCUMULATIONS. WINDS HAVE
SHIFTED SLIGHTLY TO A MORE SOUTHEASTERLY COMPONENT THROUGH THE
OVERNIGHT HOURS THEREFORE MOST OF THE AFTERNOON WEATHER ACTIVITY
WILL BE CONCENTRATED TO THE NORTHWEST AND WESTERN INTERIOR
SECTIONS OF PUERTO RICO. A FEW AREAS ACROSS THE NORTHERN COAST
COULD ALSO EXPERIENCE A FEW SHOWERS.
A TROPICAL WAVE THAT PROMISE A SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN OUR LOCAL
WEATHER IS NOW LOCATED JUST EAST OF THE WINDWARD ISLANDS.
AN AREA SUBSIDENCE ALOFT JUST AHEAD THE TROPICAL WAVE WILL BE
MOVING ACROSS THE LOCAL AREA LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND IN THE
EVENING THEREFORE THE WEATHER ACTIVITY DURING THIS TIME PERIOD WILL
BE LIMITED. BUT BETWEEN LATE MONDAY NIGHT AND EARLY TUESDAY
MORNING...MOISTURE ASSOCIATED TO THE TROPICAL WAVE WILL BE MAKING
IT INTO OUR LOCAL FORECAST WATERS AND LATER ON INTO THE ISLANDS.
THIS WILL BRING A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE ON SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORMS
COVERAGE THROUGH AT LEAST WEDNESDAY. WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO
INCREASE SIGNIFICANTLY AND REMAIN STRONG THROUGH AT LEAST
THURSDAY.
&&
.SYNOPSIS...A 1029 MB SURFACE HIGH WILL CONTINUE TO EXTEND FROM
THE CENTRAL ATLANTIC WEST AND SOUTHWEST TO THE U.S. SOUTHEAST
COAST...THE BAHAMAS AND THE NORTHEAST CARIBBEAN THROUGH FRIDAY...
MAINTAINING A MODERATE TO FRESH TRADE WIND FLOW ACROSS THE
REGIONAL WATERS. A TROPICAL WAVE IS EXPECTED TO MOVE ACROSS THE
LOCAL AREA LATE TONIGHT INTO TUESDAY...RESULTING IN A
SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN WINDS ACROSS THE LOCAL FORECAST AREA.
&&
.MARINE...
TODAY...MARINERS SHOULD EXERCISE CAUTION ACROSS ALL LOCAL WATERS AS
WINDS WILL REMAIN BETWEEN 15 TO 20 KNOTS BUT A SIGNIFICANT
INCREASE ON WINDS AND SEAS IS EXPECTED AS THE TROPICAL WAVE MOVE
CLOSER TO THE LOCAL WATERS. STRONG WINDS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH
THURSDAY PRODUCING DANGEROUS MARINE CONDITIONS. SMALL CRAFT
ADVISORIES WILL BE ISSUED LATER TONIGH DUE TO INCREASE ON WINDS
AND SEAS.
Good morning fellow NE Caribbean members. As you can read from the discussion above indeed it will not be a very pleasant 4th of July.Let's see how this wave affect the NE Caribbean in terms of how much rain will fall and in terms of the marine conditions and the expected windy period.
Nothing important occured overnight in San Juan.A beautiful morning has started with blue skies with little clouds around.

I think you posted that question at the wrong thread as this one is for observations from the NE Caribbean islands.

Thanks for posting the observations, y'all. It's nice to see what life is like in paradise! Also, with my friends getting married on St. John this evening, it's really nice to see what the weather is like for them. I do hope those "passing showers" won't be passing over their little wedding chapel beach!

Oh,it's this evening the wedding? I thought it was last saturday.Well, thankfully that tropical wave will not arrive where they will have the party until tommorow. However it's not out of the question that some scattered showers ahead of the wave may pass thru that beautiful paradise island tonight.

They flew down there Fri. and used the weekend to finish the planning. The wedding is tonight. They decided to have a small destination wedding with just family. The bride said they were having fireworks tonight on St. John and they'd be able to watch the show after their wedding. I'm glad to hear they have a good chance for nice weather for the wedding and the fireworks show.

WEATHER SUMMARY FOR THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN JUAN PR
400 PM AST MON JUL 3 2006
SKIES WERE PARTLY CLOUDY ACROSS THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS THIS
AFTERNOON. DOPPLER WEATHER RADAR INDICATED ISOLATED TO SCATTERED
SHOWERS ACROSS THE COASTAL WATERS THE PAST FEW HOURS...WITH VERY
LITTLE RAINFALL FALLING OVER THE ISLANDS THEMSELVES. WINDS WERE
MAINLY FROM THE EAST SOUTHEAST AT 10 TO 15 MPH WITH OCCASIONALLY
HIGHER GUSTS NEAR SHOWERS.
NUMEROUS PATCHES OF LOW LEVEL MOISTURE WILL CONTINUE TO PASS OVER
THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS THIS EVENING...AHEAD OF A TROPICAL WAVE
FORECAST TO MOVE ACROSS THE LOCAL AREA TOMORROW. THIS NEXT TROPICAL
WAVE IS EXPECTED TO BRING MORE ACTIVE WEATHER AND WINDY CONDITIONS
TO THE ISLANDS BEGINNING TUESDAY MORNING. RESIDENTS AND VISITORS ARE
ENCOURAGED TO MONITOR THE WEATHER CLOSELY OVER THE NEXT DAY AS THE
TROPICAL WAVE APPROACHES AND MOVES ACROSS THE LOCAL
ISLANDS...INCREASING THE THREAT FOR LOCALIZED FLOODING.
HOWEVER...WITH THE QUICK MOVING NATURE OF THE SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS NEXT TROPICAL WAVE...NO
WIDESPREAD FLOODING IS ANTICIPATED AT THIS TIME.
SEAS WILL BE 5 FEET OR LESS WITH WINDS OF 19 KNOTS OR LESS THROUGH
EARLY EVENING...BEFORE INCREASING OVERNIGHT AND ON TUESDAY WITH THE
APPROACHING TROPICAL WAVE. SMALL CRAFT SHOULD EXERCISE CAUTION IN
ALL THE LOCAL WATERS...EXCEPT THE NEAR SHORE WATERS OFF THE WEST
COAST OF PUERTO RICO.
Fellow NE Caribbean members, here it comes.Report your observations from your area as the wave moves thru tommorow.
It has been a wet monday afternoon in San Juan as diurnal heating combined with the trough to our west produced heavy showers from a stream line from El Yunque peak to the metroplex.
I hope that the wedding in St John's tonight goes well in terms of the weather but there are no guarantees of excellent conditions as some scattered showers ahead of the wave will move thru the Virgin Islands tonight.

Except for one intense session of big gusts of wind (that blew over my umbrella with the new t-shirts, dang!) and a heavy rain that lasted about 10 minutes, it's been so beautiful today! The haze gone, the island vivid green, the water, to quote a friend who lives on a high hill coming into work today "about 10 shades of blue and green, reminding me why I live here". We all wanted to be tourists today!
Unless things were really weirdly different over on St. John, they most likely had a perfect Paradise wedding.

Usually Dakity (a point on the southwestern tip of Culebra) is LOADED with rafted up boats over from the big island to party...according to friends who overlook the area there are very few boats there this weekend. Even though the Fourth isn't ever a really big deal here, a long weekend usually is, but with the weather so iffy, it seems to have dampened things down quite a bit.
Just had a heavy rain go through, lots of gusty wind and cloudy skies with the sun trying real hard to break through.
The cart may be on vacation today...

Good morning, and Happy 4th to U.S. citizens!
Yesterday continued great all day, with no showers here until after dark, when we had some quick-moving little squalls come through, maybe 3 or 4. Radar showed them passing just north of Culebra and missing PR entirely.
Today is VERY hazy, and we have clouds, but not a drop of rain so far. Radar looks like we're under a dry slot, and I once again wonder about the effects of a certain volcano's continuous gas emissions.
Winds have picked up, ranging from nearly calm to quick bursts of gusts, and back to calm again. Seas looking a bit choppy out there...

Happy Fourth of July to the USA folk.

the tropical wave fizzled for us.. not even any showers over night.
It is quite breezy though.
Wind from the ESE (120 degrees) at 16 MPH (14 KT) (direction variable)
skies are hazy.
so I'm off to lunch at one of the local bars for Fourth of July $1.00 hot dogs!
Have a great holiday everyone!
