If you have taken a cruise, what is the one thing you like best to do on it?
Dance, eat, see the shows, shop?

Tick....tock.....wonder how long it will take for furry to see this topic?!!! She's been on many cruises and can probably tell us all about them!
Come on furry.....you can be our very own Kathy Lee!!!!
I've never been on a cruise but from what I've heard, you rarely spend time in your cabin, basically all you do is sleep there - b/c there is so much to do and see. Eating (food is served thru out the day, the 3 squares, plus mid-meal snacks and often a midnight buffet), add to that room service, movies, swimming, games, gambling and the ports they stop at. That's why the people I've known don't spend much on their rooms, b/c all they do is sleep and shower there! At least these are the things I've heard are true about cruises....
Then you have my brother who's been on Barefoot Cruises. Yep, he says these are the way to go, much smaller boats and guest count. And apparently, much smaller or none at all - suits!!! LOL

Yes, it is just for sleeping. But, we always get a balcony because we love sitting out there in the morning, free room service for the big bang breakfast and look at the islands as we come ashore. Then we hit the islands. We do all the tours and fun stuff. Eat a great lunch of their food selections, shop and come back. We take a nap so we can stay up late, casino and all the shows. The balcony was great on our Alaskan cruise. Coffee in the morning outside looking at bear and moose by the shore and watching the glaciers. Can't get any better. We like to eat in the specialty restraunts too. On the days we are at sea, we spend time at the pool. A good day to lounge and read a good book.

I went on 2 cruises before and you spent most of your time eating! Even if you are not hungry, you still end up eating because the food is just too tempting. And I would always have to get me the drink of the day every day. I spent the at sea days just tanning and lounging by the pool all day. After dinner, I would always attend one of the shows. Then, either head to the casino or hit one of the clubs and dance to the wee hours of the morning. Even if I had a tour that started at 8 a.m. the next morning.

cajungal - I'm glad you enjoyed a cruise so much! We have similar symptoms and there's just no way I'd ever want to go on one. The fear of coming home with a major GI infection is enough to stop me - each time I see another cruise ship with hundreds of ill people from drinking the water or sipping drinks with ice made on the ship, or eating salads rinsed with the tap water - all is enough for me to stay on land. People say oh don't drink the water! If it were that easy......LOL

Yes, but you could get the same results staying in a hotel or going to an amusement park. The people change every day and come from all over the country and world. I am no more scared of the food on a cruise ship than a buffet in a city. People standing over open, uncovered food, breathing over it is no better. The cruise ships have pure water on board to cook with and make ice. What is the difference in eating ice in Europe or McDonalds. You don't know how clean their machines are.
Mary, the cruise ship is the same as a huge hotel, just on water. Don't fear it.

As bad as my stomach problems are, I did not get sick the whole time I was on a cruise. And I ate way more than I normally eat at home. When I did get sick, it was not from food, it was from drinking too much! Both times I went to Cozumel I went on the party ship and then to Carlos and Charlies and nearly passed out from the non-stop drinking and tequila shots. I never drank any water my whole time on my cruise either.
