In Norman, OK at the NSSL there is a more powerful radar that will be tested this summer. Called the Phased Array Radar, this radar scans the sky 5x better than a conventional doppler radar. It could aide in making advanced warning times expanded from 11 minutes to 22 minutes. Its the same radar that the Navy uses for enemy defense.

Whatever this is i'm sure NBC10 news in PHL will have it by the end of the week,,,,lol.

There has been a lot of major weather stories recently,,,,,,I received a question at the site I volunteer at about a ice age in Europe. I just looked into it and I couldnt answer his question because I never jnew about it until that day. Also story a while ago (my favorite) about freshwater build up in the Gulf Stream,,,,,,fresh water is less dense and could lead to a normal thing with the Northeast seeing sub zero temperatures and very cold winters the next 10 years or so. (((My prelim for winter will be out in a month or so))) No forecast just a brief over view of factors.

All we need know is a computer model that predicts the weather accurately for 5-7 days out,,,,lol,,,i'm sure i'll be dead by then though.

Definitely my favorite too ! (the freshwater building up in large parts of Atlantic and expanding). Does look like we'll be heading towards a colder regime overall in the next 10 years it looks lke ! I bet that last winter was just the start..................... :D
