For anyone who forgot the Colorado State University team had in the early June outlook=17/9/5.

IMO they will downgrade by 2 the number of named storms.

This poll was approved.

I think they'll definitely be lowering the numbers, or they should be. The early-season prerdictors they counted on for the higher total are just not there now. SSTs continue to fall (less major hurricanes) and wind shear remains typically high for this time of year. La Nina will not be present. Bermuda high is much stronger now - stronger trades mean more low-latitude shear. Why would they go so high above average with such conditions present?

They will keep the numbers the same. If this trend continues though, a downgrade would be likely by around 2.

hummm, i say downgrade also, by 2. I have to agree that the early predictors that we were all looking at, have cooled somewhat. Even the loop current SSTs have faided to reach the point that caught our attention in the spring. Granted, its july, and i wouldnt expect to see half of what we saw last season!!!! :D :D :D Time,will tell!!

Downgrade to 15/9/5. Keep the hurricanes and major hurricanes as is, but downgrade the total storms.

Right now I think they will keep their numbers the same. Still plenty of time for things to change.

Remember, even in 1995 - what was the benchmark year until last year, we had only had Tropical Storm Barry now...there were still 17 more to go (it really heated up in late July and August was brutal)

They will cut those numbers in half. Season will be very quiet. This is a good thing considering the last two years. Too many people paying attention now.
