WOW!! I see what you are saying. Check it out everyone. In big red letters the NHC site is in backup mode :eek: :eek: . Thoughts and comments welcomed.

...this usually takes place during normal business hours, when the NHC el-techs are on duty...

I was going to say that must be having difficulties with the server or they are cleaning up before it hits the main part of hurricane season.

Hmmm... "Backup Mode"... first time I've encountered that myself... but, I suppose it is a routine checkup/maintenance.

Once a year thing...did it on August 9th last year, and August 24th in 2004...I don't remember the site explicitly stating that they were in backup mode though... you had to notice that HPC was writing the TWO and the advisories...

HPC wrote the Pacific TWO this afternoon and goofed the time the first time around:
