Here's the original WINK-TV story mentioned at the top of this thread (seems WINK did not have any "breaking news" on this story, but, was just mentioning it at this time):

In case you find this interesting, my niece, Maya Rodriguez, was the WINK reporter who covered the story. As soon as I read the discussion here, I sent her an email letting her know her story had an impact. Here is her reply:
"I can't believe my stories actually have an impact. Amazing.
Anyway, you're right, the bill is still in committee. However, certain senators and congressional reps from Florida have yet to flat out say how they feel about the bill. Sen. Santorum is pushing hard for it because there are at least a dozen private weather service companies based in Pennsylvania. Democrats have critized him because employees of those services have donated a lot of money to his re-election war chest. In Florida alone, there are at least 17 private weather service companies. It will be interesting to see whether those employees follow the same path as their Pennsylvania counterparts when it comes to election year donations.
Thanks for reading the article, though!"

It seems we can do no harm by signing the petition, even if we have signed it before!
