Ambien has been advertised on tv a lot recently and my doctor gave me a prescription for just one month because I have not been getting over 3-4 hours of sleep a night. My blood pressure has been high and he felt I needed to get more sleep and relax. This pill is extremely powerful and I had a bad reaction to it last night. I am definately not taking any more. I took it while in the chatroom hoping only to say a little while then go to bed. About 10 minutes after taking it, I could not type. My fingers slid all over the key board and my husband said I was talking goofy. I asked him to type something in the chatroom so people didn't think I was nuts.

I am absolutely fine and please check out this drug if your doctor prescribes it. I have never had any reaction to any drug before. I could feel this drug immediately go thru my body after taking it. :roll:

Glad to see you are bad to normal Janice.

Yeah I have never seen you that way before your doc changed your meds. I guess its time to go back to the doc and see what your other options are. I wouldn't take in no more either. We know your not nuts. lol. Although it was a little entertaining for a minute, then I started getting a bit worried. Glad to see your fingers are back to normal.

I've heard a lot about Ambien, people driving in their sleep, cooking in their sleep and when they are awake they had no clue that they were doing this, here's some links:

Thanks. Yes, and to think they are advertising this on tv. But, it may be ok for some people. I have never had a reaction to any medication before, so this was a big surprise to me. John said I was rambling on in the family room and he had no idea what was wrong. I would hate to think what a person would do if he was alone in the house and took one of these pills.

I've taken Ambien on and off for over a year now and have had no adverse effects. It must depend on the individual.

I don't have any trouble sleeping, so I don't need any Ambien. Although when I have aa cold, some NyQuill will force me to go to sleep. :lol:

My hubby takes Lunesta, and I have taken it a few times, works like a charm!!

Not to harp on you Janice, but the instructions say that you are supposed to take it immediately before bedtime. Ambian will knock me out in less than 5 minutes so if I need to take it I will only tale 1/2 a pill, this allows me to stay up about 30 minutes after I take it.

Yes, I remember last night in the chatroom telling everyone that I will be going to bed soon because I just took it. Yes, it worked in five minutes. But, a couple weeks ago, my cardio gave me two new high blood pressure meds and this, so it was probably a combination to my other drugs. Thanks

This is a popular med, so I am sure the doctors only know the affects when you tell them. They work differently on different people.

i was taking ambien back in 2004. the funny thing was one day i got dressed and went out to vote in the presidential election, but i went out to vote on dec 13th at 1am and the election was more than a month earlier in november

Theres a good reason for me NOT to take ambien. Ive had sleep problems in the past; they come and go. Its obvious this drug has some serious side effects. I would never take it nor reccomend it to anyone.

This is a new drug and I am sure my doctor is not aware of these side affects unless a patient tells him. I am sure this drug works different on different people and I am sure you can get side affects even without taking other medication. There are side affects on every drug you take.

Actually, ambian has been around for awhile and it has been replaced by Ambian CR which is supposed to let you sleep longer. My wife takes this and when she starts typing wierdly she knows it is time to go to bed.

You are supposed to take it and then lay down, cause it works fast. I think it's a god-send myself and I take it 3 times a week. The only problem I have is deciding which 3 nights out of the 7 I want to sleep. Lack of sleep has caused more problems in my life health and otherwise, so I follow the directions and I can't say enough good about it.

Yes, I know that lack of sleep for me has caused a lot of stress. Maybe my doctor will prescribe a lower dose or another med.

Janice, don't take your Ambien until you plan on going to sleep. Don't try to fight it to stay awake. Take your Ambien, get a book, get into bed and plan on getting at least 8 hours of sleep.

I've taking it before and did nothing for me...Then again I do take alot of drugs...Clonidine although not a sleeping pill did wonders for me as far as my sleeping problems ...

I'm not a doctor, but I'm surprised that your doctor did prescribe this to you since you are on blood pressure medication.

I would definately mention all of your symptoms to your doctor and perhaps he'll be able to prescribe you something else.

Yes, John called him. This was my first visit to him. He is Johns cardio and since my blood pressure was high, I thought I would see him. The doctor said he gave me the lowest dosage of Ambien. He said all drugs have side affects. He said to discontinue them and a good nights sleep would wear the drug off. I have not taken them long enough to to any damage. Thanks

I'm on al kinds of blood pressure meds and my doctor also prescribed it to me ...So I don't think it would be that big of a deal...
