It's not that, it's that Hezbollah terrorists CROSSED the Israeli border and took them, like an invasion. That is an act of war.

The religious should probably be praying for peace. I can easily see this devolving into Israel occupying most of Lebanon and the Syrians coming in and occupying the other half.

While I believe Israel has been acting rationally, it is very unfortunate that the capture of a single person can lead to this.

Poor Lebanon. They always suffer the most because of Syria.

Poor Lebanon? Hezbollah has SEATS in their Government. It's long past time the citizens of that country get rid of them. If they ever want to be a peaceful nation, they will, otherwise these problems will continue.

Lets stick to the conflict at hand and the facts surrounding the issue and not bring politics or religion into the conversation.

I don't think you can keep politics and religion out of this discussion. Its impossible. They are linked hand and hand. I do think we are all mature enough to handle the discussion. It would be ashamed not to. I value all of your opinions on Storm2K and learn something new everyday.

Please refrain from patronizing me. Here are my counterpoints, as I forever will not fall into group speak and group cohesion. I never agreed to that when I joined the forum.

1.) Yes. One soldier. There was a soldier captured by Hamas militants a week ago which started this chain of events. I am fully aware that more soldiers were captured since then, what I stated was the START of the events.

2.) Poor Lebanon? Yes, poor Lebanon. Unless you believe that all Lebanese are supporters of terrorism and follow lockstep in Hezbollah's agenda, then you have to agree that it is unfortunate that they will be suffering. Also do some reading up on where Hezbollah is based, where they get their orders from, and why Lebanon is not in control of all their territory.

3.) Lebanon is not a nation. It is a state. Until you can tell me how many nations are in Lebanon, please refrain from saying that the Lebanese can just get up and make Hezbollah submit to their edicts.

So yes, I do believe that war is an unfortunate occurance. Thousands will die if there is an invasion. Israel will see a civil war in its territory. The Syrians will enter Lebanon. Lebanese sects will be murdering one another. The United States would almost inevitably be dragged in. American soldiers will die.

First of all I wasn't patronizing when I replied to your earlier post of capturing a single person...sorry about the misunderstanding/misreading earlier.

Janice I don't believe for a minute that Iran is out of the picture. I have a theory that Iran could be behind this in some way. With the UN on their backs about the nuclear problem, they now could hold Israeli soldiers hostage to have leverage at the negotiating table. Seems like a bad move to me and I'm surprised they are getting involved. With the staging area in Iraq for our soldiers, and Israel pusing into Lebanon and possibly Syria, I see this escalating. I pray not because a lot of innocent people are going to die. I think the biggest statement made was the threat from Iran not to go into Syria or dire consequences will occur. I think this says it all. The basis for the insurgents and terrorists have always been in Syria and it could damage the "Islamic cause and Jihad" if Syria was taken out of the equation so to speak.

sraeli aircraft today struck a runway at Beirut's international airport, shortly after it was repaired and reopened following airstrikes Thursday, the Lebanese and Israeli armies said. Lebanon's prime minister says he has received a promise from President Bush to press Israel to stop the attacks on Lebanon.

Now that IS going too far hitting a runway after it was repaired. Glad that Bush will be trying to have a talk with them.

IMO, I don't think you can talk to these people. They are set in their ways, like the Hatfields and McCoys. They will continue till one side does not exist anymore.
