You know, if the US or other countries would put a good attack on Iran, we would not know till it is over.

But see, that is the problem! Who else besides the UK (always) and Australia and Canada (most of the time) stands beside us?

BEIRUT, Lebanon (AP) -- Al-Jazeera reported the Israeli military was searching for four of its troops who were missing after their warship off Lebanon's coast was hit by a Hezbollah rocket Friday.

Israeli officials would not comment on the report by the Arab broadcaster.

The Israeli military said earlier that the ship suffered only slight damage and that there were no casualties.

They probably went overboard. I doubt they were kidnapped. There would have been people on the ship who would have noticed it.

CNN just said there are about 25,000 Americans over there and they are basically on their own now. There is no way out. They are talking about sending in ships with helicopters to get them out. The American Embassy

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The fighting that erupted in Lebanon has prompted the Pentagon to develop scenarios for evacuating American citizens, estimated to number around 25,000, military sources told CNN.

The rapid widening of the Mideast conflict this week has created great concern in the U.S. government, which doesn't want Americans in Lebanon caught in the middle of a shooting war.

Such moves would start small, if they happen at all, the sources said. There has been no immediate request for help and no order to move any military personnel.

The State Department has set up a Middle East Task Force to coordinate policy and share information. Defense Department officials are part of the team to talk about any possible plans for American evacuation -- a customary move, said State Department spokesman Sean McCormack.

While "contingency planning" is being done, no evacuations were under way, McCormack told reporters. Americans were being asked to stay in contact with the American Embassy.

Americans in Lebanon can call the following numbers for information: 1-202-501-4444 from overseas, or 1-888-407-4747 in the United States. U.S. citizens can register with the embassy online at https://travelregistration.state.gov/ibrs/.

The developing of scenarios has been complicated by the fact that Israel bombed the Beirut International Airport during its operations in Lebanon.

The airport would have been the logical place for Americans to depart Lebanon.

Sources said that in one scenario, the Pentagon would find another air field and work with the Lebanese government on an agreement where U.S. aircraft could come in and evacuate a relatively small number of U.S. Embassy workers.

A second option would be moving a Marine amphibious unit led by the USS Iwo Jima into the area, with the carrier and unit remaining offshore.

The group is currently in the Red Sea on exercises with Jordan, but could be moved into the Mediterranean Sea off the Lebanese coast.

Such a scenario -- which would take some time to pull off -- would be used only if the a large evacuation operation was needed, and it would come only at the ambassador's request, the sources said.

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - A missile fired at an Israeli naval vessel off Lebanon hit a civilian boat, possibly from Egypt, the Israeli army said on Saturday.

A spokeswoman said those on board were believed to have been evacuated, adding it was unclear if there were any casualties.

After initially saying the missile had been fired at an Israeli vessel in a fresh strike early on Saturday, the spokeswoman later said it had been part of an attack late on Friday when an Israeli warship was badly damaged.

"At the same time as the incident took place in which an Israeli ship was hit, a merchant ship was also hit," the spokeswoman said.

Israeli media said the damaged missile ship was hit by an airborne drone packed with explosives.

Four Israeli troops were missing after the warship was hit in an attack claimed by Hizbollah, Al Jazeera television said, as violence escalated between Israel and the guerrilla group.

Israel Says Hezbollah Drone Damages Warship

By JOSEF FEDERMAN
Associated Press Writer

JERUSALEM (AP) -- An unmanned Hezbollah aircraft rigged with explosives slammed into an Israeli warship late Friday, causing heavy damage to the vessel, military officials said.

The attack indicated that Hezbollah has added a new weapon to the arsenal of rockets and mortars it has used against Israeli troops.

The army said the warship suffered severe damage and several hours after the attack, was still on fire as it headed back to Israel. There was no word on casualties, though the Arab satellite channel Al-Jazeera reported the Israeli military was searching for four missing sailors after the ship was hit by a rocket.

The military officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to speak to the media. The army spokesman's office would say only that the cause of the attack was still under investigation.

Hezbollah has managed to fly unmanned spy drones over northern Israel at least twice in recent years.

Hezbollah's Al-Manar TV had reported that guerillas attacked an Israeli warship that had been firing missiles into south Beirut.

"Now in the middle of the sea, facing Beirut, the Israeli warship that has attacked the infrastructure, people's homes and civilians - look at it burning," Hezbollah's leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah said.

From this ship the 4 sailors dissappeared.

Paula Zaan just broke in a bit ago and talked a bit about the Egyptian ship. She said she will get more details later.

Now the IDF is saying that they were mistaken... and are not sure the origin of that ship.

Reuters was the one to first report it AP was the one that corrected it.

It was a Hezbollah rocket that was aimed at an Israeli ship and missed...
