It will not take an act on the scale of Pearl Harbor to get the US involved in this. Before WWII the US practiced an isolation policy that is no longer the case. If you remember correctly after 9-11 Bush clearly stated that we are at war with terrorists and we will take down anyone who supports terrorist and support those in a fight against terrorism. Hezbollah and Hamas are both terrorist groups and Isreal is an US ally. Lets not forget that there are alot of groups who would love to see something tragic happen to US citizens in these areas in order to drag us into this. Iran is helping Hezbollah, it has been confirmed and lets take into account that we have our own little issues with Iran. Syria will certainly back Lebonon and now Isreal is bombing precariously close to their border. Pipelines in Nigeria have been sabbotaged recently and servicemen killed I do not know if you relieze how many US citizens are in that area. North Korea has been postering and Japan pouting, and there is a pyscho in Venezuela who wants in on the action.

If diplomacy does not take hold soon this could be a major conflict. It might not be this scrmish, but international tensions have run high for quite some time and unless something changes for the better the pot will boil over evenutually.

The 25,000 Americans were caught by surprise and the airport was taken out so they couldn't leave. Tell the Americans crying on tv not to worry. Oh, sorry it's just war. We couldn't wait because two people were kidnapped so we had to start bombing the whole country. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Yet that statement was clearly BS because we forgave Libya and we aren't bombing Saudi Arabia, which has funded and continues to fund terrorism and terrorist-supporting Imams. We also freed the Shias in Iraq many of whom support terrorism. We clearly pick and choose the terrorists making the Bush 9-11 statement completely and entirely false.

The Americans on tv, mostly CNN are the FAMILIES of those that are in Lebanon who didn't know a war could happen, the ones that are currently in Lebanon though knew that there was a chance of a war breaking out...the ones in Lebanon can't get any messages out at the moment also...but the reporters got in there without air travel because they flew into Jordan and crossed the borders...

You do realize that when those terrorists came across the border it was an invasion, right? That's an act of war. Israel has the full right to do what they have done, they have largely avoided civilian casualties, and have yet to have a missile, rocket, or bomb go astray. I think that's pretty good... because the terrorists certainly haven't avoided targeting civilians.

Well it is very sad to see that you people think the Americans living in Lebanon are expendable just because of some stupid terrorists.

It looks to me like another Taliban situation with the Leban's unable to help themselves. Their government has lost control.

Stormtruth that makes Bush full of BS not me, the point was if we are in a war against terrorism then we are indeed invovled in the strife of that region and have been for quite awhile in response to regit's comments about it taking a Pearl Harbor event to get us involved.

And I am glad you feel so heartfelt towards the US citizens still trapped in the region it is tragic, but it would not have been a good stratigic move. Do not think I am heartless I feel for everyone who is in the way of this conflict but Irseal had to do what they thought was best for military reasons not humanitarian ones. Right now it may be more dangerous to try a mass evac of Americans because certain groups in the region may see that as a prime target.

I see, yes I meant the president was full of BS not you. I think Israel could have delayed at least the airport strike but I agree with you that a mass evac would be very difficult now. 8-)
