See I'm going thru a weird phase. Older skin, peri or definitely menopausal skin. A year ago I began breaking out terribly, a 2 inch circle around my mouth area. Mostly the chin, but above the lips too. I began using Neutragenia products, b/c they're designed for older, acne prone skin. In other words, their On the Spot acne cream is mild, compared to teen acne creams. Even though I'm breaking out, my skin is mostly dry, not oily. When I use the On the Spot cream, my breakouts are in control, barely popping up. I use other Neut. products (toner, moisterizer, night cream, etc.) so I think I've found my skin care routine/product line now. I've also hesitated going to a Dermotologist, since my oldest daughter did that and she was on 3 daily meds, 2 oral and 1 topical. Proactiv has helped her more than all of his Rx related suggestions ever did!
I never used to break out like this either! Huge acne eruptions look very odd and out of place on someone my age - 51!
That said, I am reluctant or skeptical to try new makeup lines. But since other brands are introducing glow type powders, maybe I'll give one a try.
Thanks everyone for the info! Appreciate it.

There's a starter kit for $60. You get 2 shades of foundation, a bronzer and the mineral veil (which sets the foundation) plus 3 brushes and if you order online you get an eyeshadow, a compact and the dvd. There's other starter kits also.

I went and got the concealer yesterday cuz i had those age spots on my neck and i'm determined hide them! I'll see how well it conceals today!

I am using that now too, thanks to you.Everyone else was talking Bourbon Street and we were talking make-up at Pat O's.

Miss Mary wrote:Personally speaking, what would be hard for me to get used to are the large brushes and the dry powder form. I've just always used liquid foundation. I equate powder to my mom's generation!
But from all the positive feedback here, I'd be willing to at least try it. My complextion is getting blotchy as I age and those lovely, uh older, age spots are showing up. Ugh!
I'd like to know how expensive this is also. Can someone tell us how much they've spent? Are we talking $50 or more, just for 2 products, foundation and blush?
Thanks.

Mary,
I am post menopausal and from the liquid foundation generation. This stuff has been a god send for me. I live in FL and sweat a lot. This make up holds up just fine. I paid about $50 for a kit on QVC that includes the foundation and a couple of cheek color jars with a kabuki brush and a blusher brush. Using this on my face has caused people to tell me almost daily how much younger I look. I love this stuff. It's all guarenteed by QVC for 30 days. You have nothing to lose.
Use a light coat of moisturizer under the foundation until you get used to the feel. The feel is the best thing. It feels like there is nothing there at all.

I figure that I can also get away without liquid foundation during the summer because of the tan I get just from being outside. My skin tone is not eneven, fortunately, just the circles I have under my eyes. This is where I do use a mixture of light concealer and my foundation. Otherwise it's jut pressed powder and powder blush.
I've always had breakouts, I just know that in the summer time it's worse because of the humidity.

I've been using Bare Minerals since last September. I love using a powder base, it only takes seconds to apply and looks very natural. The more coverage you want, the more you use. I have people commenting on my perfect complexion all the time with this stuff. Now though, I'm curious to try the Clinique one.
I always ordered my Bare Minerals from Sephora after ordering the starter pack. You don't have to join the club, I just called and cancelled it when I received my order and told them I would order when needed.
