I am not sure this is ENTIRELY the Jews vs the Muslims, this time.

Israel has been targeting the Christian parts of Lebanon, as well, and Lebanon has been targeting some of the Arab parts of Israel, and those people seem to be sticking with Israel, even though they are muslim. Plus, Syria is run by the Ba'ath Party, which is definately not an Islamic party, as evidenced by Tariq Aziz, former second in command to Saddam being Christian, and the fairly large Christian minority in Syria (and Lebanon for that matter)

This seems to be Syria and Iran vs the State of Israel

On that, I agree. I have a hard time seeing Hezbollah as having gone forward with this independent of their backers.

Or am I not allowed to have my own opinion on the situation.

Did I say you weren't allowed an opinion? Or did I simply ask, what would you have us do?

someone has to feel for the human component.

With all due respect this comes off as a bit self-righteous. Perhaps you can clear it up, though. Are you implying that nobody else on this thread is "feeling" for the human component? Just asking becasue the above statement seems to suggest that this is the case. Feel free to clarify any erroneous perceptions there.

I wouldn't argue this either-- it's just that I still feel that if you dig till you get at the roots of causation--you'll unearth the religious zealotry on both sides.

I guess I'm just angry/irritated because my brother was in Iraq and all the stories he told me of the suffering of people there because of war-time. I didn't mean that you or anyone else here doesn't care about the human component. I guess sometimes people talking about the actions that Isreal needs to take lead me to think that the human component is not always thought of. This was not directed at you or anyone else here on the site. Just plain old frustration with war... and yes I do know that is necessary and unfortunately us as humans suffer for the actions of others take. This whole whole situation in the mid-east is very volitale and hopefully someday there can be peace but, unfortunatly peace can not be obtained through peacefull actions. The direct result of killing the terrorist and squashing thier operations will lead to peace eventually. Again please don't take my comments personally.

No problems here in regards to your comments as they are always well thought out and explained fully. I think it's always important to hear all sides of the story and sometimes it is important to dwell on the other sides comments as you may realize more what they are trying to convey. I think sometimes it is necessary to work through the emotional part to get to the logical part.

However, Hezbollah is Shia muslims not Sunni. That's why this is significant for us in Iraq as most of the Shias in Southern Iraq will side with Hezbollah and Iran and decide to launch more attacks against coalition forces. This will make things more difficult for us. Meanwhile, Canadians die in Lebanon

but what about Syria, run by the Ba'ath party, made up of mainly Christians and Sunni's, just like in iraq? That's why I am not so sure this is purely religious, rather directed at the state of Israel itself (which has a large Arab population, it is not entirely Jewish)

Canadians killed in their home on Summer Holiday. Isreali missile must not have been accurate. Canadians never given a chance to evacuate because the airport was bombed.

Eight Canadians were killed and six other Canadians critically injured after an Israeli air raid on a Lebanese town on the border with Israel, Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay said Sunday.

Lebanese officials said the Canadians were killed at their home in the town of Aitaroun, which abuts the border.

The victims have not been not identified.

Media reports said the victims were a family that had come from Canada to spend the summer holidays in the town.

They picked a bad time to go on a holiday.

BEIRUT, Lebanon (CNN) -- Israeli airstrikes pounded the southern suburbs of Beirut on Sunday, hours after a rocket attack on Haifa killed eight Israelis.

South of Beirut, 20 people were killed and 50 were wounded Sunday in an Israeli airstrike on the Lebanese port city of Tyre, according to Lebanese television.

Later Sunday, Hezbollah rockets hit three northern Israeli towns more than 40 kilometers (25 miles) south of the Lebanese border, the farthest south of any rocket attacks to date, the Israeli military said.

Those reports came shortly after an Israeli warship struck the area of Beirut's airport with four missiles, setting on fire a fuel storage tank, The Associated Press reported, citing security officials who were not identified.

Hezbollah is going more southward with it's missiles. Will they reach Tel-Aviv?

Shimon Perez was asked that very question by CNN's Wolf Blitzer twice today. Each time he avoided answering it.
