thats not even swearing. There is nothing wrong with that word at all. It's not like he took the Lord's name in vain or anything

Well, he should have used something more educational. The Crisis going in the middle east is not considered "sh**", unless you have "no" you know what to back it up.

I would not have made it a big deal, but he is not setting a good example for the kiddos.

The word you're thinking of is one of his favorites.

This isn't new. Some clips of him before he was president have him sounding like a sailor.

I sort of agree with you. The thing is, 99% of the people consider the "S" word to be a cuss word. I'm not sure on this.

I'm not surprised at this breaking news. Bush does lots of these types of things.

Nor was he speaking in front of the kiddos. He was among adults and off the air, or supposed to be.

I agree. "Cussing" is overrated. I don't think it ever killed anyone or sent them to the poor house. I never read the part of the bible banning it that so many seem to think is there.

I couldn't care less how the President talks in private. We knew he had a foul mouth before we elected. Didn't care then, don't care now.

Right. It says not to take the Lord's name in vain. It really doesn't say which words of poo-poo are appropriate, and which aren't. 8-)

You can bet everyone in the UN and elsewhere are swearing. Hey, they are adults and a lot of them are speaking privately and not their fault there are snoops overhearing their comments. This is war and serious. If I was in those meetings trying to solve things, I would be swearing too. You can take your kids to a big baseball game and hear worse.

Here it is why it is probably worth covering from a media standpoint.

1) Under this administration the FCC has crackdowned on cussing.
2) The president campaigned under a wholesome image.
3) It could show the prez can't keep his cool in a crisis.
4) It is fun to cover because he is an important person.

Although it isn't as big a deal as when Cheney using the F word. Personally it doesn't bother me but the media is going to run with it for a while for sure -- at least until something blows up again. The Drudge Report has had in red letters most of the day -- now asterix's in front of it. It's funny but it won't be in the news for long IMO.

How do you figure that? The Israel story is getting 40 minutes of every hour and is the lead-in story on the half-hours.

Now folks you know that saying that "S" word is far more newsworthy than say a war in the middle east or a tsumani. Let's get our priorities straight here.

CNN will probably have a special analyst in to talk about "How saying the "S" word will increase our gas prices" or "How saying the "S" word will cause Israel to invade not only Lebanon but Syria as well". "How saying the "S" word will increase global warming". "How saying the "S" word will lead to nuclear holocast!!!!!!!!" YIKES

I'm going home to build my bomb shelter!!

The FCC should fine the president immediately:

Under federal court rulings and commission rules, material is indecent if it "in context, depicts or describes sexual or excretory activities or organs in a patently offensive manner as measured by contemporary community standards for the broadcast medium." Indecent speech can be aired safely between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Under a new law approved by Congress and signed by President Bush, broadcasters face fines of as much as $325,000 per violation, up from a previous maximum of $32,500.

Time for Bush to write a $325,000 check.
