Under federal court rulings and commission rules, material is indecent if it "in context, depicts or describes sexual or excretory activities or organs in a patently offensive manner as measured by contemporary community standards for the broadcast medium." Indecent speech can be aired safely between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Under a new law approved by Congress and signed by President Bush, broadcasters face fines of as much as $325,000 per violation, up from a previous maximum of $32,500.

Time for Bush to write a $325,000 check.

Bush didn't air it....why should he write the check?

I know I'm just being silly. I do think the excrement thing should be removed from the FCC. A $325,000 fine for the word poop? Me thinks the FCC is trying to make some extra $ :)

Ok, I know I'm going to get yelled at by people... But, you need to look beyond that one word. Hearing two world leaders (especially two of the most powerful) discuss a major foreign matter while thinking that no one is listening is HUGE news. They said some very important things. That video basically tells us:

1) Bush and Blair are spending their free time thinking strategically about this situation.
2) They have a plan for how to handle things (you hear them discussing Rice's planned trip).
3) They are working with Kofi Annan and the UN
4) They are not taking sides in placing fault.

Hearing total honesty about what they're thinking from two leaders is so rare that it IS the top story.

Regit, that's the saddest part. The "S" word will be the only point being made by the news media. There will be no mention of the total honesty and genuine thoughts in these discussions.

I agree. But the headline about the S word is what they were concentrating on. I am actually Glad I got to see this side of Bush. I really feel like I know him better now and thats a good thing in case your wondering. He is a Human being just like all of us and it's nice to see that side.

Regedit..

Title is as follows:
Bush caught off-guard in chat with Blair

Description of article is as follows:
ST. PETERSBURG, Russia (CNN) -- An open microphone caught President Bush in an unguarded moment Monday as the escalating crisis in the Middle East prompted him to use an expletive in a conversation with British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Now what was the breaking news they were refering to?

Pburgh wrote:Now folks you know that saying that "S" word is far more newsworthy than say a war in the middle east or a tsumani. Let's get our priorities straight here.

CNN will probably have a special analyst in to talk about "How saying the "S" word will increase our gas prices" or "How saying the "S" word will cause Israel to invade not only Lebanon but Syria as well". "How saying the "S" word will increase global warming". "How saying the "S" word will lead to nuclear holocast!!!!!!!!" YIKES

I'm going home to build my bomb shelter!!

Did the Chinese president turn on the mic? Probably not.. but interesting theory since the mic came on around the time he was next to Bush and Blaire.
