Duct Tape!

What did you use duct tape to do, the last time you used it?

Me: I used it to cover an opening on our carpet shampooer. The little cap where the hose to the hand attachment connects is lost, so I cover the hole with duct tape. Otherwise the machine won't suck.


OK, I'll give two: With this heat wave, I bought some box fans to put in a couple windows. When blowing out, the fans tend to shake themselves off the window sill and fall. I use duct tape to hold the fan in place. I also cut some cardboard to cover the part of the window around the sides of the fan. Cardboard held in place with duct tape!

I put duct tape on one of my computer chairs a few months ago because it was torn. I have since bought a new one though. The one I use on this computer is several years old and still in great shape. The new one that tore was only about 4 months old...won't be buying an el cheapo again. It doesn't pay off in the long run.

What don't I use duct tape for.

It is great to rig almost anything.
It is holding the weight of my plugs up behind my computer.
Reinforcing a card board box that has some of the kids blocks in it.
Fixed a hole in one of the kids swim tubes, worked much better than the patch kit they give you with it.
It is so sticky you can rig up alot with it, and it seems once the heat hits it its double as sticky. I have been known to put the hair dryer to it after I have taped something so its real sticky.

Thanks for the tip! I'm gonna try it on an air mattress bed. It has a hole in it and I don't even know where the patch for it is, if it even came with one. Hopefully I will be able to use that thing again!

And once you get it on there put the hair dryer on it for a minute, and get the glue on the tape warm, and rub it again to make sure all is stuck. Should work great.

I use it on a pesky plantars wart... its been going away... I'd highly recommend it for a trusty home remedy.

Duct Tape More Effective than Cryotherapy for Warts

last time I used Duct tape and I really don't want to see another roll was when I helped make a prom dress (yes long all the way to the floor in 2 colors, green and yellow) and a black tuxedo for the guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol - when Brandon was wounded in Iraq, his "battle buddy" used duct tape and toilet paper on the wound until they could get him back to Camp Liberty! I almost died the night they told me that one

I use Duct Tape for anything it will work for...as a matter of fact, I couldnt find the article again, but Yahoo! News reported the Discovery crew was going to use it for something on a space walk on some part of one of the suits when they were getting ready to fix stuff outside the Space Station...

One I forgot to mention that I have used it for multiple times is to hold batteries in when a back has been lost to a remote or one of the kids toys.

Funny about the wart usage...my neice was over last night and had duct tape around her finger...when I asked why she told me about the wart. She told me it was working...the wart was dying (gross I know) I'd never heard of that one before!!

Not sure Mary, but when I was googling duct tape yesterday I found that the astronauts did use it in the 70's to fix something or another. Also found a site specificly for making clothes out of the tape.

My dad's motto was "Duct It". He was the king of improvised repairs, jerry-rigs and general work-arounds. He's been gone six years but the duct-tape and tube silicone stories are still told whenever we get together.

With warts, I had this hideous wart between two fingers. Never saw a doctor, and this was before the home cryo kits. I heard about taping them, so I wore a duct tape "ring" for a while. The skin stayed wrinkly and white around where the tape was, and the wart became softish and looked different. Sure enough, it finally looked just stuck onto my finger. I barely messed with it and it peeled off, leaving a tiny scar that I still have to really look for. I currently have this little wart on my elbow which survived a home-cryo attack that really burned and also blistered the entire spot. Time for the tape!
