Severe storms NE of Houston

A nice complex of storms is moving from the NE to SW toward Houston. Currently Liberty county is under a warning and I can see quite bit of lightning in the distance. The radar is also showing an outflow boundry starting to form. I wonder if Houston will get any action from this.

* AT 830 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS
OF 60 MPH. THIS STORM WAS LOCATED NEAR ROMAYOR...MOVING SOUTHWEST AT
20 MPH. RADAR IS ALSO SHOWING SOME ROTATION...SO A BRIEF TORNADO IS

Well according to the latest HWO, this activity is expected to die off within the hour. too bad... :roll:

at least there is another 30% rain chance for tomorrow.

It is already looking like its falling apart... I did see some lightning outta it though, all the way over here on the west side... Oh well.... Welcome summer..... :bday:

just got some lightning and thunder as well as a few sprinkles here in NW Harris County. Another weird thing is the humidity! It is some of the highest I have ever felt!

update: Wow. I just found out that dewpoints were in the upper 70s around the time that small storm developed. No wonder it was so humid!

Lucky you. I wish some of the rain would show up here, instead of circling around the DFW area.....like a pinwheel.

Look at all the rain and mess off the coast, some of that has got to make it into the HOuston area, we arent that far inland and those storms are strong,.. and of course the radar is down...

I just changed the title of this thread because 3 counties are now under severe warnings for cells SE of Houston.. These cells seem to be moving NW and an outflow boundry coming from them may try to fire new severe weather in the Houston area. These storms are producing strong damaging winds as they move this way.

Yep, that outflow boundry is very well-defined on radar.

E 35 G 43 MPH

That's nearly tropical storm force!

Also, this is just their hourly report, so I am sure that it not the highest gust they've seen.

Got some rain here earlier today... Rained for about an hour pretty hard and that was it.. Good amount of wind too, as the trashcans in the neighborhood are in the street... Nice change!!

There were multiple 911 calls (according to the news break from KPRC) shortly after noon from Texas City and League City following some funnel clouds being reported. Small and short-lived storm moved in from the bay.

Has anyone else noticed this severe line moving our way? I wonder if it can hold together long enough to be a threat tonight. So far it has held together for a good 6+ hours, so let's see if the trend continues.

Major lightning storm off to my north right now. I can see the lightning nicely with an anvil cloud appearing with each bolt. Seems like a line may be trying to develop NE of Houston right now and a decent outflow boundry has formed. Could get interesting in the next hour or two.

I saw some lightning to the north too as I was driving home from Texas Childrens Hospital... Never made it into the Houston area... Oh well... Maybe next time?
