Actually, that forecast is for coast and out 20nm. Different forecast for gulf stream and out.

AT 2 PM EDT A TROPICAL STORM WATCH CONTINUES ALONG THE
COAST FROM NORTH OF CAPE LOOKOUT TO SOUTH OF CURRITUCK BEACH LIGHT.

AT 200 PM EDT THE CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION TWO WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 32.8 NORTH...LONGITUDE 73.4 WEST OR ABOUT 210 MILES
SOUTHEAST OF CAPE HATTERAS NORTH CAROLINA. THE DEPRESSION IS MOVING
TOWARD THE NORTH NEAR 5 MPH. A SLOW TURN TOWARD THE NORTH NORTHWEST
OR NORTHWEST IS EXPECTED TO OCCUR LATER TONIGHT OR WEDNESDAY.

I hate to break this to you this still looks to have a trough/frontal system(Weak) on its northeastern side. Which is strenching northeastward. So no tropical cyclone to be fair to the system yesterday.

A Recon went through this system and found a warm core storm. There are no fronts attached.

Actually, I hate to break it to you, but according to the HPC Surface Graphic, http://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/sfc/90fbw.gif there are NO fronts on it...
