STORM BERYL IS BERLE... LIKE THE LAST NAME OF MILTON BERLE.

Apparently it could be either gender.

P.S.: For you young'uns who don't remember when television was 3 stations at most and a test pattern after the national anthem, that's Uncle Miltie.

Oh yeah I forgot about that... but then again Milton Berle was just a *little* before my time.

No, George is a fairly common name, Georges (the French pronunciation) isn't that common at all here in the US. Heck, I can hardly say it, and I took French in high school.

Actually it is like Cheryl tpc's explanation. It is a species of gemstone. Beryls include Emerald, Aquamarine, Morganite, etc. Funny, never thought of gender (as a Gemologist that is). I assume since Alberto was the first storm than Beryl must be a females name. Never have run across anyone named Beryl though.

Betsy
Bonnie
Brianne
These are simple and to-the-point names.
Well, Betsy is retired and Bonnie is currently in use, the last time in 2004.
