Explosives detonation live - 1:00 CST
Anybody else in the Hou/Galv area following this?
http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?secti ... id=4381310
There's live video feed where they're about to detonate more explosive material in an apartment when an explosion killed one and injured another yesterday.
A handful of co-workers are concerned since people they know live in the area.
They just had a press conference and announced the planned detonation after evacuating the entire complex this morning. Yesterday's evacuation was just the general area near the affected building.
The president of the complex spoke first and offered his concern about what happened and thanks to the police and rescue workers. He said that the deceased had explosives in the apartment that were too volatile to move and that detonations would occur at 1:00 pm to destroy them. He said there were still a few people unaccounted for and they are going door-to-door to ensure the whole complex is empty.
Then one of the officers said that they are taking every precaution to keep the entire zone clear.
FBI bomb tech said that it was some type of peroxide-based explosive, possibly made in a tub, that is extremely sensitive to shock and friction -- something similar to what was used on 6/6 of last year (I'm lost -- what happened on June 6th?). They found a "considerable" amount, but it's not enough to consume the entire complex during the detonation. They are "not expecting a large amount of damage." (I should hope not!)
When asked if this is isolated or if there is evidence of explosives somewhere else in the city, they said they have no evidence to show this is anything other than isolated to the complex.

There is now...
Basically, it's just what I said -- they have to detonate material that is too volatile to move.
There's an article with the video.
They even have dumptrucks set up in front of the area as a blast barricade.
The whole concern right now is how big the explosion will be. They said they don't believe it will consume the entire building. They've blocked the roads now too.
Any minute now....
