BERYL, like HERMINE?

#1 Postby HalloweenGale » Thu Jul 20, 2006 9:46 pm

When Beryl brushes me, I wonder if it will be like Hermine. All hype and then nothing.. Beryl is now on radar.

I say and i live in the northeast, that we tend to hype anything tropical even if its 40mph because its less common

It was quite a possibilty...I remember looking at the projected path, taking Irene into NJ as a cat 2 hurricane i think

Who exactly is being affected? The occassional person who has a twig down in their yard?

The starter of this thread lives on Nantucket, the place which should be most affected, and they are downplaying it to nothing.

I kept saying no way that was making landfall anywhere.

Irene was pretty small anyways.

BTW, Whos Hermine?

So, HalloweenGale, how did Beryl play out for you guys? was it worse than Hermine? I saw your area recieved 15-20 foot waves and 45-55mph gusts. Any damages to report?

I'd imagine, due to the fact we had extensive Beach erosion in Jersey and 20 foot seas offshore. The humidity got turned up which could set the stage for thunderstorms this evening.

90 degrees, dew point 74, heat index 100, thanks Beryl, thundershower coming through at 2:30pm

Well here it was worse than Hermine; seeing as Hermine was only a few light showers, and a brief wind surge (gustsing to about 30 mph). We got over an inch of rain (1.20 Inch) from Beryl, in roughly ten hours, no wind to speak of though, so a mild storm (even for Summer) in my area. Hell it was no Bob, Hybridstorm 0f 2001, Santa Storm 0f 1994, Floyd, Bertha or even a Hugo (up here that is).
