July 18, 2006 Severe Thunderstorms: The Aftermath

#1 Postby donsutherland1 » Thu Jul 20, 2006 7:21 pm

All of these photos were taken near Stepinac High School on Mamaroneck Avenue near the intersection with Ridgeway Avenue in White Plains, New York. It should be noted that damage can be found in other locations but there does not appear to be any paths of destruction e.g., across Mamaroneck Avenue some branches are down but the tree damage is substantially less than it is near the High School.

The Bow Echo that came through here knocked some trees over and tossed branches all over the place.

It was a wild couple of nights from the Northeast to the Mid Atlantic, that's for sure!

We've had ALOT of severe weather in my neck of the woods this year - more so than usual, I think. I don't remember it being as active last year.

These pictures show people just how damaging those 60-75mph wind gusts can be.

I've been hit by 3 Bow Echos this month so no doubt.

I have never witnessed a storm that could do that in person. Great pictures.

Me either.

I could only see minor damage, like signs blown down and tree branches broken off in my hometown, that's it.
