my tropical path

#1 Postby JonathanBelles » Sun Jul 23, 2006 10:56 pm

it all started in 2004 when charley hit...then fransis...then jeanne...dennis...katrina....rita...wilma...did i forget somebody?

i became fasinated with hurricanes...i got a tracking map from abcactionnews in 2004 and filled it up to the point that i had to trace a storm twice to find the real track...3 times in 2006

thoughout the 2005 season i started using a notebook...just a half inch...and filled it with maps for the atlantic and east pacific.

in november 2005 i started a project to expand to the west pacific and continue to expand on the east pacific and atlantic. My notebook is now a near bulging 2 inches of maps. Also parto of the project was to get a report from the nhc and a picture or pictures and form a notebook for 2005. That notebook became a bigger book...nearly 2 and a half inches. it also consists of 2 tracking maps (one amature and the one put out by the NHC) for each basin, an impact chart made by me and, a common storm track chart. i opened the note book for viewing january 16th. eversense i opened the notebook i have been keeping all of the advisories on little 4X5 pieces of paper and then stapling them together and putting a final summary on top that consists of the name, basin, region, wind speed range, maximum identity, landfall, affected areas, peliminary death count and damage, dates, and a nickname.

this next week i plan to expand my map book to massive 3.5 inches by expanding to the rest of the world...the entire southern hemisphere and indian ocean. I will be using a temperary notebook during the upgrade. i should be able to open the new notebook in october.

in 2007 i will be writting my own reports (to be posted here at the end of each storm) and be writing and if i get the equiptment to ilistrating my own daily forecasts. i will also be goin to early college at st. pete college.

in fall 2008 i will hopefully be going to FSU and majoring in atmospherical sciences (hopefully hurricanes)

i will be posting images tomorrow or the next day

any tips would be apreciated

That's pretty cool. I can't wait to see your images!

This is kinda random.. but I doodle maps of my own for real and fictional hurricanes when I get bored in class.

I do that as well, only on the computer. I would post them, but then I would be breaking a rule about posting fake hurricane tracks on other official track maps.

There is a topic about posting fake hurricane tracks. I was going to post many, but I just didn't get into that.

Good. Because they are the mac daddy of mappers and you could probably get with them for some of the graphical portion of what you're doing. JMO
