Well, based on how it's convection is consolidating in a large red firey ball over the estimated center, the debate over semantics won't last very long, as it looks like it could intensify rapidly now.

yeah, Ch. 11 uses a "TD" graphic from any "Tropical Disturbance". The "TD" on their channel does not mean tropical depression. I know, it is REALLY confusing, but I have seen it before.DJJordan wrote:Yeah CH. 11 had a graphic up that referred to it as a TD however David Paul did not call it a "depression" but a "disturbance".

Just my amateur take:
Regardless of whether or not it develops into anything classified, there's a surface circulation. And its intensity will probably die out in favor of that storm on the other coast only to switch intensity back to the Gulf side tomorrow morning. We've probably had close to 1" of rain here today, but I don't know for sure. Look for 3-5" in a 3 day event from SE TX over to the Panhandle.
Like Jimi Hendrix said: Rainy Day, rain all day. Ain't no use in getting uptight, just let it groove its own way.

JB's morning update says the overall situation is similar to that during Bret in 99', but 100 miles further west. Because it is further west (and close to land) JB thinks an extreme event like that is not possible. He still said that the worst case scenario would be a Frances or Fay type of event with most of the activity to the east of center (due to a northward motion).
