Getting heavy rain with nearby thunderstorms across central Florida right now. Storms aren't that far away, but not overhead. Thunder is very loud and some of the lightning was quite close.

I didn't think I was... after yesterdays sunshower, which was actually a downpour with the sun out.

Southern New England has a chance of thunderstorms in the next couple days with flooding possible.

FLOOD STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAUNTON MA
440 PM EDT THU JUN 12 2003

...A PERIOD OR TWO OF HEAVY RAIN IS LIKELY LATE TONIGHT AND TOMORROW IN PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND...

ONE TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN MAY OCCUR IN A 6 HOUR PERIOD NEAR DAWN TOMORROW FROM NORTHERN CONNECTICUT INTO SOUTHWEST MASSACHUSETTS.

THEREAFTER...OCCASIONALLY HEAVY RAIN SHOULD SPREAD INTO RHODE ISLAND AND PORTIONS OF EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS DURING THE MID MORNING INTO EARLY AFTERNOON HOURS.

THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO ACCOMPANY THE HEAVIEST RAIN IN NORTHERN CONNECTICUT AND RHODE ISLAND.

THE MOST LIKELY AXIS FOR SPOTTY 2 INCH OR GREATER RAINS IS PROBABLY GOING TO LIE FROM NORTHERN CONNECTICUT NEAR HARTFORD...TO SOMEWHERE NEAR OR JUST SOUTH OF BOSTON.

LOCALLY HEAVY DOWNPOURS MAY CAUSE BRIEF PONDING OF WATER IN POOR DRAINAGE AREAS. ALLOW EXTRA TIME FOR ANY TRAVEL EARLY TOMORROW IN CONNECTICUT AND SOUTHWEST MASSACHUSETTS...AND DURING THE DAYLIGHT HOURS IN RHODE ISLAND AND EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS.

I was going to comment on this thunderstorm complex moving south-southeasterly through eastern Texas.

Will be interesting to see what it does as it continues across the Lone Star State toward the Gulf of Mexico.
