...TROPICAL WAVES...
TROPICAL WEATHER DISCUSSION
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
805 AM EDT THU JUL 27 2006
A TROPICAL WAVE IS ADDED TO THE 06 UTC SURFACE ANALYSIS ALONG
19W SOUTH OF 18N MOVING WEST NEAR 15 KT. THIS WAVE WAS ADDED
BASED UPON THE LOW LEVEL CYCLONIC WIND SHIFT IN THE DAKAR
SOUNDINGS BETWEEN 11 UTC AND 23 UTC YESTERDAY AND THE IMPRESSIVE
LOW-MID LEVEL TURNING EVIDENT ON THE FIRST FEW VISIBLE PICTURES
THIS MORNING. IN ADDITION...GFS HAS A GOOD HANDLE ON THIS WAVE
ALREADY AND SUGGESTS THAT IT MAY BECOME HIGH AMPLITUDE IN THE
NEXT DAY OR TWO. SCATTERED MODERATE CONVECTION IS EMBEDDED
WITHIN THE ITCZ FROM 6N-13N BETWEEN 11W-31W.

The TWO seems quite interesting and seems they are getting interested in this wave already. I think it may have a chance if it can hold together its convection....still looks really good this morning...
I know this is off topic but i don't go back to school till Sep. 5
So i will be able to enjoy what august has to offer this hurricane season right here at my computer desk!!

Probably? Are you in college or high school? If high school, you will definitely be in school as it starts Monday here in Seminole County!! My son (9 yrs), would love to have a hurricane hit so he can miss some school! LOL! Of course, I had to explain to him the damage it causes and lives it affects...but all he knows is in 2004, he missed a lot of school due to hurricanes!

Reminds me of when I was a kid up North and we hoped for some snowstorms to cancel school.

I know it's unpopular thinking here, but, we really need to pray and hope that another major hurricane does not enter the Gulf of Mexico, since, this will almost ensure the $5, 6 or 7 (or more)-a gallon gasoline prices that CNN warned of last year.
Also because of possible interruptions of oil due to the war in the Middle East, it is critical that oil production in the Gulf not be interrupted at this point in time by a major hurricane...
Let us pray...

amen Frank. You couldn't have said it any better. We better hope a major doesn't enter the GOM as gas prices will soar and this country would undoubtedly fall into a rapid recession.
In addition if another major hits FL, then it will cause a serious blow to the Florida economy and cause major problems here especially to real estate -just like what happened in the 1920s..
I am praying...

Every wave before this one has poofed due to SAL and African Dust (which still exist out there) so the NHC doesn't feel it needs to even mention it I guess.

Not to mention the number of deaths from the poor state of some homes after the damage from the last two years...I can tell you first hand that after traveling by plane about a month or so ago, at least one-third of all homes I saw west of the Palmetto Expressway in Miami Dade still had "blue" (tarp) roofs..In fact,I am fearful of the damage even a weakened wave, such as the one now north of PR, can cause from all the rain that potentially could fall here this weekend..

Still holding pretty nicely, if it can get past the 40 degree line witout going poof I'd give it a chance to become a possible TC.

Here is a better look and updated look at the blob, instead of dying off the convection has deepened.

I'm not surprised. This Gov't is inept. For the life of me, I don't understand why they can't bring in Licensed workers from other states to help.
Are you talking about government buildings? If not, what does the government have to do with the private sector bringing in workers?
