PRICE, Utah (AP) -- A 1-year-old child was missing and presumed dead after a flash flood toppled the family's pickup truck on U.S. 6 between Helper and Price Sunday, Carbon County authorities said.
A wall of water came down a wash and hit the truck.
Authorities said two other children, ages 3 and 5, were swept from the vehicle and injured, but were saved.
This is truly a sad situation. The wall of water was estimated to be 20 feet high as it came down the canyon and swept the car off the road and carried it 3/4 of a mile to a mile. Weather is a very interesting thing, but unfortunately it can be deadly. My heart goes out to the family members of this child. Hopefully this will be the one and only death from the widespread flash flooding that has been occurring lately.
