Oh sorry, I don't want this to hit anybody I'm just happy that this system finally made it. Just because we are happy doesn't mean we want this to hit anybody.

While I understand that you are excited, please keep in mind that this storm poses a threat to some of Storm2k's members. The fact that you are "wahoooo"-ing and "YAAAAAAA!"-ing this threat of their's is practically a slap in their face.
Please, try to keep our other members in mind before hooting and hollering over something of this caliber.
Thanks.
This whole debate on containing your excitement is really problematic. Of course no one wants to see people's lives ruined. Celebrating a TD forming isn't exactly groundbreaking. I don't think there is any need for this kind of "discipline"... especially on a board where people love the TCs, if not necessarily their effects. There is a certain pure joy that some people feel when they form that is not disrespectful, but a love of the 'canes. Containing this is ridiculous in my opinion...

IIRC, the six weeks from Aug. 1st thru Oct 15-ish is the:
"Core of the Hurricane Season"
Right? So, if that is the case...........Tomorrow is August.............First!!!!!!

I'm not saying that this will be a hurricane or a tropical storm. I'm not saying any intensity. However, I must stress that this is a storm in a part of the world where mudslides are common. It doesn't take a hurricane to create major problems.
People tend to yahoo and whatnot over these tropical storms. While they are fun to watch, people MUST realize the MOST IMPORTANT aspect of tropical cyclones: life.
Let me leave it at this... Tropical Depression Eleven (1999) caused roughly 400 deaths.

I think that these hollers are not a big problem to these threads. Its not like we are saying we want this to hit anybody, we're just celebrating the fact that this wave has finally become a TD.

While you may find it ridiculous to contain this behavior, others take offense to this behavior.
There are ways to celebrate and still be respectful to others.

All I think about is the sleepless nights / early mornings I will have because I will have to work more now. My 10 hour days will go to 12 hours days...and if it gets worse...14 hours...18 hours...20 hours. I'll see my wife and kids when it's over.
Oh happy day.

Gotcha on that. Here is where it is a problem for more than a few. One post saying Yahoo or Yay or FINALLY doesn't say much at all. I don't know your age, nor do I care. Posting on a board like S2K should be a little bit more articulate - we have 13 year olds who are extremely intelligent and articulate, so I'm NOT talking age.
If you are excited that a weather system has reached a point of development you are looking forward to, WRITE that! Post something with some thoughtfulness in it, such as, wow, I didn't think (or I DID think) this would happen! Hopefully it will steer clear of the islands (or whatever coast it happens to be near), point out the weather beauty of it, the particulars of the system...what you believe, based on research, might be the future growth or demise of the system.
When people who have had their lives radically changed, or who's lives might BECOME radically changed see YAHHHOOOOOOOOO or FINALLYYYYYYY or whatever...it just...is like...a PUNCH IN THE GUT...even though intellectually they KNOW you, or whoever, is simply excited about the development of the system.
THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX OF YOURSELF AND YOUR OWN EXCITEMENT, please? Use your knowlege and your passion in tandem.
It will save a hell of a lot of hurt and grow you up some. Two not so bad things...YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
