Firefighter Rescues Girl From Swollen Creek

#1 Postby TexasStooge » Fri Jun 13, 2003 2:26 pm

An island in the middle of a rain-ravaged creek in Irving was the scene of a dramatic rescue Thursday afternoon as firefighters readied a raft to come to the aid of a stranger, turned hero, and the girl he went to save.

Eddy Florez noticed the girl in the water and went in after her. They then became trapped on an island in Delaware Creek and had to wait for help.

A firefighter reached the two and took them back to safety. The girl was tired and cold, but OK.

Firefighters are warning other potential heroes to be careful when trying to help.
