Central Atlantic Tropical Wave

#1 Postby NONAME » Fri Aug 04, 2006 8:53 pm

Tropical Wave with A Closed Circulation in the Atlantic could it devlop????

AN ATLANTIC OCEAN TROPICAL WAVE IS ALONG 52W S OF 19N MOVING
WEST 15 TO 20 KT. BROAD CYCLONIC TURNING IS NOTED WITH NO
SIGNIFICANT CONVECTION. UW-CIMMS SAHARAN LAYER ANALYSIS DEPICTS
A FAIRLY DENSE REGION OF DUST AFFECTING THE WAVE. AN OLD QUIK
SCAT PASS FROM THIS MORNING SHOWED A CLOSED CIRCULATION AT 11N
THAT WILL BE MONITORED. THE GFS MODEL ALSO INITIALIZES A LOW
LEVEL VORTICITY MAXIMUM IN THIS VICINITY THAT MOVES OVER THE
LESSER ANTILLES BY 07/0000 UTC.

This is another tropical wave, the one that will approach the Lesser Antilles by Monday. In the other thread they are discussing the convection at the 37W

it won't develop for a couple of days IMO, WAY too much dry air in the area. don't know about the shear though. but in a few days say wed-thursday, we could have something there.

According to this map, shear doesnt look to be too much of a problem right now..
