Would you consider this, so far, the most boring season yet?
I don't mind, don't get me wrong, I am just asking. I know things can change quickly but has a Hurricane season ever had hardly any storms or just no hurricanes ? If not what about a Hurricane season that had none of them hit the US ?

2000 did not have its first name storm intill Alberto formed of Africa on the first or something like that. All seasons since 1995 have been much above avg...With most of them having a big up turn about Mid August. 2004 Alex did not form intill July 31st...But it was one of the most Amazing seasons in along time. 2005 was something that had all quads of the season open wide.
This season could turn out to be a 15 storm season...In have some really powerful storms. Heck 2004 was a 15 storm season. But the overall unfaverableness of what it is looking clear into August might be a little more unfaverable then 2004. But we will see.

Your right the tides could change and mother nature could start pumping out storm after storm in a few days or weeks. You just never know.
I am sure if mother nature wanted to she could catch up quickly for lost time. It may be worst if that ever happen because you have no time to rest after the first hit and if mother nature gives you a second hit the same year it can be even worst if its so soon after.

The season certainly has not been as exciting as 2005 so far, but it definitely has not been boring. We've had 3 named storms so far just shy of hurricane strength and we've had more to watch that came pretty close to developing as well (including that storm south Nova Scotia last month that was probably a TS). It really hasn't been that bad (or good to those who don't want tropical systems) relative to what is typical early in the season. Normally the season doesn't pickup in activity until late August.

We've had three named storms so far none dangerous. Lots of fun making calls and tracking ill defined centers as these storms struggled to develop in marginal conditions.
There is not as much sport tracking monster Cape Verde storms, they tend to be less influenced by surrounding environment variables and you can flip a coin to guess when the eyewall replacement cycles will start. If you are looking for fatalities and head count go look at the middle east news.

Re: olddude's post
I agree - I considered evacuating twice in '04 (Frances and Jeanne), but, rode out Frances for many hours, even though the entire apartment building was vibrating (not good), was better going through Jeanne, but, decided on a one-night evacuation for Katrina, and, fortunately decided at the last minute to evacuate for Wilma (similar to what I did for Andrew, especially since the roof came off in that incident), but, had to stay in a Tampa Bay area hotel for 10 days after Wilma, due to a lack of power and water at my building (not to mention the 7 hour wait for gas that many here had to endure).
Oh, yes - boring is nice...

I can understand for those who love tracking storms and hurricanes that this would be a boring time for them, I love the thrill of things too, (Not life threatening things though) and sometimes life can be a bit boring without a hobby.
I have had to switch my interests sometimes to other things to keep my mind mentally stimulated.
I myself am not a weather watcher, only for safety reasons and in the hurricane season.
I do like a good strong thunderstorm from time to time.

I sometimes think that many like the thrill of a disaster, because, as my Dad used to say, "because they've never been through one".
How often are Storm Stories (TWC) victims heard to say "I hope I never have to go through that again"...
It's like a having a bad tooth - it one takes one experience to know that you don't want another...
