From the 8:05 TWD
A 1013 MB SURFACE LOW
HAS DEVELOPED AT 05/2100 UTC OFF THE COAST OF THE MISSISSIPPI
DELTA NEAR 29N88W

It's visible on the IR and the radar. I think it does exist.

I think it is moving more west right now (based on radar), but I don't think it will have enough time to become anything serious. If it can slow down...may be, but I see this as being more of a severe weather maker in SE Texas tomorrow which could include a few damaging wind reports. I will not rule out a TD or weak TS yet, but it is losing it's opportunity quickly.

Hmm...the new 0Z NAM looks interesting. It tries to slow down and develop this low and moves it into SE Texas in about 30-36 hours.

The GFS, however, is a bit faster and brings this in as just a heavy rain maker in about 16-24 hrs.

Pretty severe weather came through here late this afternoon with hail, strong winds, vivid lightning and heavy rain. Some wind damage reports from what I am hearing, but stronger wind damage in SE Texas. Trees down and power transformer fell on a house catching it on fire. I believe the worst of it was around the Jasper area, north of Beaumont. The lightning was popping around here in SW LA that's for sure.

GFS is much better than the WRF in tropics..

Hey KFDM, did you all get any action out of that horrendous thunderstorm that came out of LA and rode in just north of Beaumont? I heard that there was wind damage and trees down around Jasper. Hope all is well on your end.

notice the "X" beelining it for NMEX.....that is Chris

Here in the Triangle just some moderate rain with Lightning. Worst of it passed north of I-10
