It is down to a 45kt tropical storm.

Just heard on the radio there have been a fair few deaths from this sadly.


Typhoon sweeps into south China


At least five people have been killed in southern China as Typhoon Prapiroon forced the evacuation of tens of thousands of people, state media said.

The death toll from Tropical Storm Prapiroon in southern China has risen to at least 31, state media report.

I just read that this has caused more than 50 deaths now, in China. :(

Do typhoon names get retired too? Will Prapiroon be retired?

Billis should be retired even so he was only a tropical storm because of over 600 dead. If not then something is wrong! Just think if a hurricane hit the United states in killed 600...You better believe it would be retired.

Since 2000, 4 typhoon names have been removed.

2001 Typhoon Vamei

2002 Super Typhoon Chataan

2002 Typhoon Rusa

The death toll is up to 77, of which 9 have been put down to a tornado which from what I've been told looked rather big when it was shown on the news. I haven't seen it however.
